Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce

A Product Review

Tina Twito
I'm a big fan of applesauce. Homemade or store-bought, big jars or individual cups, I really haven't found a kind I don't like yet. That being said, "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" is very good and good for you too!

We buy the individual cups of "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" for my daughter to have in her lunch, but I've tried a couple of them. (Though I've never seen it, this type of sauce might also come in the larger jars, but I will be reviewing the individual cups.) "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" comes in a package of six 111 gram cups. The packaging is pink with a floaty apple pattern on which photos of apples and pomegranates (I love these!) are superimposed. The packaging tells of the merits of "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce". The top of the package tells of its vitamin content and tells us that it has no sugar added. (Good news!) The back tells us that "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" provides one of the daily recommended servings of fruit. The front bears a pink ribbon and tells us that Mott's supports "Susan G. Komen for the Cure", an organization that fight breast cancer. Good cause!

"Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" is a nice smooth sauce, if a little thin. It is sweet, but not too sweet. The pomegranate juice adds a nice tang.

The nutritional merits of this applesauce are an even bigger selling point. The calorie content is very reasonable at 50 calories per serving. The fat content is nil. It had a small percentage (4 percent) of carbs, and a small percentage (4percent) of fiber. In addition it provides 25 percent of vitamin C, and 10 percent of vitamins A and C. The sugar isn't bad at 11 grams per serving, especially as those are all from the apples and added juices.

The ingredients list for "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" did not contain any nasty little surprises. The ingredients are Apples, water, fruit and vegetable juices (for color) ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), natural favors, pomegranate juice concentrate, vitamin E acetate, and Vitamin A palmitate. So this is one product you would assume is healthy for you, and, on closer inspection, that appears to be the case.

So if you are looking for an applesauce that is tasty, good for you, and easy to pack in a lunch or take along for a snack, then "Mott's Plus Antioxidants Pomegranate Applesauce" may be a good choice for you!

Enjoy!

Thanks all! My neighbor had a pomegranate tree when I was little. I called them "crown fruit." So I guess they are sentimental!

Not a pomegrante fan myself but loved the review nonetheless.
