There on the African plains is the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. It is sparkling snow topped mountain with ice that glistens from the light of the sunshine. It is something many people can't even begin to attempt to do, but an adventure that you should consider. It is important to note that you need to be in great physical condition and healthy to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is a fantastic experience those with a true adventurous spirit must master. You will have the option of a five- or an eight-day guided tour to achieve your destination at the top of the mountain, so make sure you pick the one that will make you the happiest.
Marangu Route (Coca-Cola Route)
The most popular one of the guided hikes of Mount Kilimanjaro is the Marangu Route, also called the Coca-Cola Route. This fantastic outing will take you five days to complete. Don't worry, because if you are in good shape, you should have no problem getting through the wonderful days and nights while you are on this adventure. You will have guide with you to give you all kinds of great information along the way. There is also a cook and a porter that accompanies groups on this specific hike to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. Remember to stay with your group and not wander off alone. Always prepare well and bring the proper attire. Your guide will tell you of the things that you will need to be aware of. This hike will take you along the eastern part of the mountain where there are gentle slopes and awesome scenery. You must have a camera when you are taking this adventure.
Machame Route
Another great hike to get to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is the Machame Route. This is a tougher climb to the top of the mountain, but the scenery is unbelievable. You will have ample opportunities to capture the breathtaking splendor of all that awaits you on this trek up the mountain. Once again, you will have a cook and a porter along on this trip. Your guide will give you so much information that you will want to take along a tape recorder to capture all of it. At the very least, you will want a notebook to write it all down.
Your Adventure Awaits
This will surely be an experience that you will never forget. You will want to take along a notebook or a form of a diary to document everything that happens to you on this adventure. It will be something that you will want to share with friends and family alike. Whether you are vacationing, on a sabbatical from work or a gap student looking for something that will never cease to amaze you, then this is the place that you need to be. Making your arrangements as soon as possible are important, so the best thing to do is get a good travel agent that will make your visit the most fantastic thing that you ever did. They will get you the best rates and make your arrangements for you so that you don't have to worry about anything but getting there. Then, the fun begins and it won't end for a long time.
