Mount Victory, Ohio's Plaza Inn is the Classic American Family Restaurant
Visit when Alaskan Walleye is on the Buffet
There's something special about the classic American family restaurant in a small town. It's usually a place where everyone knows each other, but strangers feel welcome, and of course, the food is excellent.
Mount Victory Ohio's Plaza Inn is exactly this kind of spot. Located north of Marysville on State Route 31, about an hour northwest of Columbus, the Plaza Inn is known for their full menu and all-you-can-eat buffets that change daily. Crabill's Hamburgers in nearby Urbana, is another legendary road food spot.
An Ohio Road Food Tradition
First opened in 1959 by Edward Elliott, the Plaza Inn was rebuilt in 1971 after the first building burned down. Pilots need to take note, as this is a restaurant with its own airstrip! Eat and fly!
Still owned by the same family, the Plaza Inn became a landmark in Mount Victory over the years. The restaurant won a "Best of Ohio" readers poll in 2007 for top family-owned restaurant. The spot won additional awards for "Best Cream Pies" and "Best Breakfast."
Great Burgers and Great Buffets
The double decker PlazaBurger might be the signature menu item at the Plaza Inn. Featuring a mayo-based sauce not unlike Elyria's Midway Oh Boy or Chillicothe's Sumburger, the PlazaBurger is definitely a twin-fisted delight sure to satisfy most appetites. The platter comes with a supply of quality french fries.
The Plaza Inn is also known for its wide array of all-you-can-eat buffets. At dinnertime, the Coach Room serves up a slightly higher-class menu, including Prime Rib and desserts. The lunch buffets are top rank, especially on Friday and Saturday when Alaskan Walleye highlights the spread. Special buffets also happen on every holiday.
The menu on the website is unfortunately only a sampling of the Plaza Inn's full menu, which made it difficult to choose between the buffet and the full range of family restaurant fare. The Philly Chicken Cheesesteak looks especially intriguing for a future visit.
Ohio travelers and road food fans definitely need to plan for a visit to Mount Victory to check out the Plaza Inn. It's a pristine example of The American Family Restaurant.

Post a CommentHave had many breakfast as well as the buffet, The Plaza is just awesome. I have taken motorcycle riders there on different outings and they also have fallen in love with the food and the hospitality that is shown. First introduced to The Plaza by friend Curby Cocharan and his family, just an awesome place to eat.
