With approximately 425 active volunteers, who are members of over 75 different Christian congregations, the Mountain Home Christian Clinic has become a large provider of free medical services for people living in Mountain Home, Arkansas and the surrounding area.

In 1999, a group of persons from the Mountain Home East Side Baptist Church returned from ministering in Brazil. Upon the realization that there were similar needs in their own community, they began dreaming of providing services to meet those needs. After researching other free clinics in Arkansas, they began to turn the idea into reality. The first clinic at the Mountain Home Christian Clinic was held on April 27, 2000.

In 2003, the Mountain Home Christian Clinic moved to its present location on 421 West Wade Street. They have expanded the offered services since operation first began to meet the growing needs of the community. The Mountain Home Christian Clinic is a team of volunteers providing charitable health care to those who, for various reasons, have no other means of obtaining care. People with Medicaid, Medicare or private insurance of any kind are not eligible for services. Federal poverty guidelines are used to determine eligibility.

Applications and registration information are available during regular office hours. Completed forms and required documentation can be returned for review. Appointments will then be made to finalize registration. The Mountain Home Christian Clinic office hours are Monday through Thursdays 9:30am - 3:00pm and Fridays 9:30am - Noon. The phone number is 870-425-5010.

Who qualifies for free services at the Mountain Home Christian Clinic? To qualify for medical care or assistance, you must have needs that aren't being met by other providers. You must not have medical insurance of any kind, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Household income must be below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. You must provide proof of income and pre-register before the clinic date. To qualify for dental or eye care at the clinic, qualifications are the same as medical, except Medicaid recipients are provided this service.

The Mountain Home Christian Clinic does not make appointments. The clinics start at 6 pm on the first and third Thursday of each month. You can expect to do a lot of waiting. People are seen based on medical need, and there's no guarantee each person will be seen.
