Mouthwatering Goulash

A Real Hungarian Meal

Drew Bush
While I am not Hungarian, I sure love some of their food. Whenever I eat Goulash, I can never just have one serving. Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

oil (very little)
1 lb beef cubes
1 cup onion (sliced)
1 small clove minced garlic
3/4 cup ketchup
Dash of red Cayenne
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tspns Paprika
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 package egg noodles

Add after 2-2.5 hour cooking time:
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup water 1/2 cup if double recipe

If you want to double the recipe, double the salt, ketchup, brown sugar, Paprika, dry mustard, and flour. You can also use more noodles.

Directions:

Melt shortening in a large skillet. Add the beef, onion, and garlic; cook and stir until meat is brown and the onion is tender. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, Paprika, dry mustard, and cayenne and 1 1/2 cups water. Cover and simmer for two to 2.5 hours. Blend the flour and 1/4 cup water (1/2 for double recipe) and stir gradually into the meat mixture. Heat to boiling stirring constantly. Boil and stir for one minute. Serve over noodles.

I added that to my recipe file for cool weather foods. Interesting ingredients that I'm sure give it a unique taste. :)
