i wrote the rules and tore them up
and taped them back together
so the words were all fouled up
and different places
than they were
when i began

this is as close as i could get
to what i meant.

my eyes are falling closed
tumble lashes, smeared eyeliner
leaving scars of black and glitter
on my cheeks

i am exhausted
from the simple act
of living.
