Shaharazade's is a tea room like no other it has a Moroccan theme and even has belly dancers to add to the ambiance. Located in the historic town of Shepherdstown, WV it almost seems out of place, but did I mention that Shepherdstown is home to Shepherd University. The area is well known for it college atmosphere of a rather earth friendly type. It is a place concerned about the world we live in and not so much the party type of college atmosphere. It is not surprising then that Shaharazade took up business here.
From their extensive selection of tea and their traditional tea service, it's like a little taste of heaven. They also have a rather large menu if tea service is not for you. They will uncork your own wine for you to enjoy with your meal. The food is absolutely wonderful. I have always gotten the tea service, you know the finger sandwiches and tasty little desserts although I have seen some of their other dishes that look and smell wonderful.
Their pricing is a little high compared to some other tea rooms, but the atmosphere is incredible and definitely should not be missed. I have even gotten my husband to go to tea with me. He loved the belly dancing and is now quite found of tea time.
The atmosphere is the major selling point of Shaharazade's . They take special care to make it feel like you are in the Middle East like in the Story of the Arabian Nights. It is definitely a special place that I suggest taking a loved one. Although I would not suggest taking small children as they most likely would not enjoy it as much as you. The place is also rather cramped and does not have a lot of room for little one's to move around.
So please if ever in the area of Shepherdstown, WV stop in for a little tea time.

Post a CommentMy daughter, granddaughter , and I had a wonderful time at the Shaharazade Tea Room our last visit. In fact, every time we go to Shepherdstown it is our place of choice. The servers are outstanding, the owner (if you are lucky enough to be there when she is) is an absolute gem. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or just worn out, an afternoon pot of tea and solid gold ambiance is waiting for you!Oh, and don't be shy with the menu, we haven't found anything we don't like yet!
Love Shepardstown, I'll have to go. I'm in MD
