Doomsday
Directed by Neil Marshall
Written by Neil Marshall
Starring Rhona Mitra, Malcolm McDowell and Bob Hoskins, Doomsday tells the story of a group of people trying to prevent a catastrophy.
The truth is I have no idea what you can look forward to when you go to see Doomsday. Very little information about this movie is available. All I know is that Mitra is playing Eden Sinclair, McDowell is playing Kane and Hoskins is playing Bill Nelson. From what I understand, authorities quarantine an entire country after a deadly virus, called the 'Reaper Virus' strikes. They build a wall around the country, presumably keeping everyone in and everyone out. Then, after 30 years or so, the virus pops up again in another country.
A special unit is dispatched to the quarantined country to seek out a cure. The only trouble is there's something rotten in the country of Denmark, so to speak. To me, this sounds like it may have all of the zombies and monsters we've come to expect with movies like this. It may be kind of boring, but we won't know until March 14th.

Funny Games
Directed by Michael Haneke
Written by Michael Haneke
Writer/director Michael Haneke remakes his own surreal 1997 film, Funny Games. The film tells the story of Anna (Noami Watts) and George (Tim Roth) who take their family on a getaway to a remote summer cabin. Suddenly, two psychotic men arrive, forcing the family to struggle to survive. It's life or death. The question is what will Anna do to protect her family. This is going to be a study of violence in entertainment.
I'm a big enough fan of Noami Watts, I will probably go to see this. I just don't want to be preached at, especially if it's about something like violence in entertainment. I just hope they stick to the story and that's it.

Horton Hears a Who
Directed by Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino
Written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul
Starring the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell, Horton Hears a Who is based on the Dr. Seuss novel of the same name. It's a fantastic tale that many parents have read to their children. But, will this story be as fantastic as a movie on the big screen?
Carrey plays Horton, an elephant with big ears who suddenly hears a Who, who lives in Whoville on a speck of dust cry for help. He of course cannot believe anything on a speck of dust could be talking to him. But eventually Horton realizes that it's possible and decides to do everything it takes to keep this microscopic community of Whos safe. His neighbors make things difficult for Horton because they refuse to believe anyone or anything could be alive on a speck of dust. But Horton sticks to his guns by saying, "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small."
One of the Whos in Whoville is the Mayor himself, played by Carell. He doesn't believe Horton exists at first, but he eventually does. Needless to say, we can expect some great laughs from this Bruce Almighty comedy duo. Both comedians may be very different, but they are both terrific at what they do. I personally can't wait to see this in theaters.
