The Plot: The story being told here is one we know all too well. Every one in the world has felt the impact of the recent global financial crisis. Moore uses this global crisis as the setting for his new movie. Moore focus will be on the large banks role leading to this crisis and during the bail out. Also the movie will explore the political motivations surrounding the financial crisis. Aside from that not much is known about the movie for its contents are being kept pretty secret. In fact the movie did not have a title until very recently.
Star Power: Citibank and other big corporations will be featured in the film but the real star is Michael Moore. He is one of the few filmmakers who also have pulled off becoming a personality in his own documentaries. It has worked for him since Roger and Me, so expect to see a lot of Moore in this film.
Behind the Screen: Love him or hate him Michael Moore has been on a roll lately. His last three films have been some of the most successful documentaries of all time. His latest film, Sicko, was nominated for an Academy Award and Bowling For Columbine one an Oscar in 2003. The Weinstein brother's executive produced this film and as always Moore's partner Kathleen Glynn produced the film.
What to expect: Over the years Michael Moore's documentaries have become almost their own genre. They are not quite straight documentaries because Moore has become such a presence and his messages have become very slanted to the left. They are dealing with real facts and they are by no means scripted. It has been a long time since one of his films told the story from both sides. Moore always has an angle he is trying to sell and its clear that he is not going to make a movie that favors the big corporations of the world. That being said he is very good at telling a compelling story. He always finds interesting people to interview and his movies are funny. With this crisis hitting so many people so hard perhaps we could all use a good laugh.
