Movie Primer: The Final Destination

All You Need to Know About This Eye Popping 3D Horror Fest

This is a short primer for the 3D horror flick The Final Destination. The forth in the franchise will arrive in theaters August 28th. The trailer for this film can be found at http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/thefinaldestination/

The Plot: OK, stop me if you have heard this one. A guy gets a vision of a terrible accident were countless lives are lost including his own. This premonition of his arrives moments before the accident but he is able to survive because he convinces his group of friends to stop what they are doing. Now everything is great except that death is mad at them and is going to kill them in very interesting terrible ways, unless they find a way to beat the system. Yes you guessed the folks behind Final Destination are at it again. This time around instead of planes or roller coasters crashing its race cars bursting into the stands. Otherwise the plot seems to be pretty much the same of the last three except now in HD 3D.

Star Power: There are not going to be a lot of faces you know in this film. The four main actors who are trying there best to cheat death in the film (Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSaten, Haley Webb and Nick Zano) have all had roles in small movies and TV. You might recognize the faces but this is going be the biggest movie role for almost everyone involved.

Behind the Screen: The director for this 3D death fest is David Ellis who is returning to the franchise that gave him his first big directors gig with Final Destination 2. Since then he was the man behind surprise crowd pleaser Snakes on a Plane. The writer Eric Bress worked with David as the writer for Final Destination 2 and has also written the screenplay for The Butterfly Effect and many episodes of the TV show Kyle XY.

What to expect: If you have seen any of the Final Destination movies you might as well skip this section because you pretty much no how things are going to work out. There is going to be an amazing accident scene in the beginning, this time in 3D. Then the rest of the movie will be actors talking while we all wait with glee for the next complicated, slightly contrived death scene to arrive. I imagine seeing that this is in 3D, we are going to have at least one person being impaled by something like a pole or a lawn dart that will then jump out into the audience. If you are a fan of HD 3D this is one of your few chances to see something in 3D this summer that is not animated.
