Movie Primer: Love Happens

The Plot: Dr. Burke Ram is a self help guru who has made big money telling folks to openly confront their pain. The only problem is that he has never let go of the grief of loosing his wife. Then he meets a florist while doing a seminar in Seattle and finds that he might be falling in love. Of course before he can fall in love he has to deal with all the drama of love and grief. Will he be able to let go of the past? Well he has a possible life with Jennifer Aniston in his future, so if I was a betting man I bet love wins out in the end.

Star Power: As I mentioned Jennifer Aniston is the romantic lead of this movie. She plays florist Eloise. Ms. Aniston has been doing the lighter side of romance lately with roles this year in Management and He's Just Not That Into You. Dr. Burke is played by the always charming Aaron Eckhart who was last seen as Two Face in The Dark Knight. Martin Sheen has a small supporting role as Dr. Burke's father.

Behind the Screen: Brandon Camp writes and directs Love Happens. It is his first major feature and most folks have not heard of him. He was the brain behind the short lived TV drama John Doe. Mike Thomson helped write the screenplay and also produces the film. Award winning composer Christopher Young put together the score and Universal is distributing the film.

What to expect: This movie has some great people in it and that will most likely be its saving grace. Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart are perfect for these lead roles and I imagine they will do quite well with the roles. Still, its kind of hard to feel any major pull to this film. The main drama in the film seems to be will the lead get over himself and choose to fall in love with a character played by Jennifer Aniston (who has perfected being loveable). Is their any doubt what the end of this movie will be? I am not expecting many surprises but if you are a fan of the tear jerkers this one at least looks to be fairly well made.
