The Plot: Six sorority girls are living the good life until one of them finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her. They decide to play a prank on the cheating boyfriend but things go terribly wrong. By the end of the night someone ends up dead and those that remain decide to cover up the murder. A year later a kill emerges and starts to kill off the remaining sorority sisters one by one.
Star Power: This movie is not driven by a lot of star power. The six sorority girls are not unknown names but none of them are huge stars in their own rights. You have Rumer Willis who has done enough movies now to be known for being more that Bruce Willis's daughter. Briana Evigan also stars in the film and is best known for her role in Step Up 2: The Street. The rest of the girls have all had roles in TV shows, though most go their start in reality television. Carrie Fisher plays a supporting role in the film as the Sororities house mom.
Behind the Screen: Stewart Hendler who is getting his big break with this slasher remake directs the film. The film is adapted from the 1983 film The House on Sorority Row and is written by Josh Stolberg (who's latest screenplay was Good Luck Chuck).
What to expect: The original House On Sorority Row was a slasher flicks made during a time where it seemed almost every other movie was a slasher flick. I am not really sure if the film deserved a remake and it appears that this new movie does not stick to the old film very much anyways. There is still a prank gone badly, with revenge being the fuel for the hooded killer, but I don't expect we will see any mentally unfit attic children this go around. The movie looks like a by the book slasher film, there have been a few of these recently. There seems to be a slasher movie revival happening so I expect we will see about a dozen more of these movies. I don't expect this one to be the best in the bunch but I bet Carrie Fisher is going to be pretty darn cool.
