The movie has some great twists and turns and I found myself on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. Tom Hanks did a great job playing the part of a professor who studies symbols and he turns out to be the hero in the movie. I did not see the De Vinci Code, but I still understood the overall plot of the movie.
Tom Hanks character Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor, and a researcher played by Ayelet Zurer team up to stop a terrorist act from being perpetrated on the Vatican. The problem is that they only have hours to do it. If they do not succeed, the entire area will be blown to smithereens. Professor Langdon must follow several symbols and a map in order to find the person who is going to commit the act so that the Vatican will not be wiped off the map.
There is quite a lesson to be learned from Angels and Demons. Even though the movie centers on the Pope and the Vatican, a quote at the end of the movie given by one of the cardinals speaks so much truth. He said that since man is flawed so is religion. No matter what religion we are a part of, we all have flaws.
Surprisingly, Angels and Demons was not nominated for many awards. It was nominated for 2 Teen Choice Awards (1 for Choice Movie: Drama and 1 for Choice Summer Movie: Drama). Critics and audiences alike had mixed reviews on the movie. On IMDB, it received a user rating of 6.7 out of 10. Regardless, I thought the movie had some great suspense and twists and turns. While I do not recommend buying the movie, I do recommend renting it if you haven't seen it in the movies.
