Movie Review: Anna Paquin in the Comedy Horror Movie Trick R Treat

Catherine Neal
What do you think of when you think about Halloween? Is your mind filled with Halloween candy, new horror movies, Trick and Treat fun? Or is you mind filled with the wonder of tricks that will be played on Halloween?

Director Michael Dougherty brings horror fans five different stories into one Halloween night with the DVD release of 'Trick r Treat'.

What five stories does Director Michael Dougherty bring to 'Trick r Treat'? Could it be a new spin on why everyone passes out candy and carves pumpkins every year? Why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover especially when it's dressed up all innocent and sweet perhaps? Why Karma always comes back to haunt you, especially on Halloween night?

Let's not forget the legendary warning of parents around the world. Always check your Halloween candy before you get greedy and gobble it down.

As a whole Director Michael Dougherty created a great comedic horror film. Other than the couple in the beginning, I enjoyed every character in the film. There are moments in the film that will stay with me for the rest of my life because they had the perfect mixture of humor and horror.

Let's talk about set design for the movie. Whoever thought of filling several front yards with amazingly carved Halloween pumpkins is a genius. Not only are they stunning to look at, they add a creepiness to Trick r Treat in their own way.

The two characters that stole the scenes in the movie are Quinn Lord and Anna Paquin.

Quinn Lord plays Sam, who is also known as Peeping Tommy. This is the thing that you face when a person doesn't follow the sacred tradition of lit pumpkins and candy on Halloween. Trust me, you don't want to take off the mask.

The director decided to put a different spin on the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the character of Laurie. Let's just say that the person you think is the hunter is actually the hunted this Halloween night.

With a movie tagline like "Poison, Drowning, Claw, Or Knife. So Many Ways To Take A Life." It's hard to expect anything but the best from the characters of this comedy horror film.

That's exactly what the director and cast of 'Trick r Treat' did. They offered up a treat of a movie that was filled with new flavors of comedic horror.
