Movie Review: Avatar

Rated PG-13

I'm pleading the fifth on how I saw this movie, but I didn't view it in theaters so I'm sure some of the awe factor was lost from the big screen to the TV screen.

First off I'm not giving the movie it's self a bad review, as a PG-13 movie it's really great. My beef is with the marketers of this film it has a PG-13 rating but over half the marketing and advertising was in Happy Meal Toys and commercials in children's television programming that is geared towards children under the age of 13. As a parent that upsets me after viewing the movie Avatar since it does contain a good amount of violence, some swearing, one sensual/sexual scene and references, some very frightening creatures. So parents I recommend you watch Avatar first to see if its above your child's maturity or age level.

With that being said for those of you over the age of 13 with parental guidance I recommend this film. Avatar is a milestone in film making with its mix of live action and computer animation. This film has a dynamic message behind it since it deals with so many topics such as corporate greed, environmental destruction, deception, and even a touch of old tribal spirituality.

The Avatars are biologically engineered alien bodies that can be remotely controlled from a human beings conscience. They are used to make peaceful contact with a more savage tribal alien race on the planet Pandora so the humans can mine a valuable metal from their tribal land. The plan is make peaceful contact and get them to move or the Marines with force them to move.

All in all this is a brilliant treat for the eyes with its amazing and colorful creatures and scenes. It has a great mix of action, adventure, science fiction, and a dabble of romance and comedy to entertain almost any taste.

With an all star cast of voices and actors such as Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, the Director James Cameron certainly had some amazing tools and talent on hand to put this film together in the four years it took to shoot and animate this movie.

I give Avatar about 9 1/2 out of 10 stars.

I saw it the sameway (; & must say it did not thrill me. I did like the "topics such as corporate greed, environmental destruction, deception, and even a touch of old tribal spirituality" --but for me overall it was cheese; all they seem to have left out was a oversexed teen vampire....
