A toxic spill in the town of Ogden Marsh, Iowa causes the town to go crazy. In the beginning The Sheriff David Dutten played by Timothy Olyphant is confronted on the field of a little league baseball team by a citizen with a shotgun. David Dutten knows the man as a local drunk who has previously caused problems. He orders the man to drop the gun and after a tense moment of confrontation David is forced to shoot the man. David orders an immediate test on his blood because he suspects he is either drunk or on drugs. Once the test come back that he was negative on both drugs and alcohol the ploy begins to thicken. More townsfolk start to become crazy and a pattern emerges that identifies a crashed plane as the possible source of the craziness. The military begins to quarantine the city to stop anyone infected from leaving the city limits. Sheriff David Dutten, his deputy Russell Clank played by Joe Anderson and David's wife Judy Dutten played by Radha Mitchell group together to avoid the military and try to save themselves.
My opinion:
This movie was pretty good. It is a remake from a 1970's version which I have not seen. I am not a fan of older movies. I went in expecting a zombie type movie with either a virus or some sort of chemical spill and got exactly what I expected. There isnt much creativity or anything special or new about this movie. Everything this movie does, has been done before. This does not mean that I think it was bad. I enjoyed the film very much. The run time is 101 minutes which is just the right amount. I didnt feel like the movie was dragging along nor did I feel like the movie ended to quickly. All of the actors played convincing parts and were believable. If you like movies such as 28 days or Resident Evil, then you will enjoy this movie.
