Movie Review: Imagine Me & You

"What happens when the unstoppable force meets the unmovable object?"

"Imagine Me & You" is a touching dramatic comedy that hits some really important questions about love and self identity. What happens when you feel the urge of the unstoppable force in your life and it contradicts with what you believe?

Rachel (Eva Birthistle) is getting married today. Walking down the isle she takes note of someone, the floral arranger Luce (Lena Heady), who just strikes her. Meeting her later at the reception, she realizes an instant bond and invites her to dinner, with the ulterior motive of fixing her up with the best man. Rachel soon learns that this bond is more than friendship and she has stronger feelings for Luce than for her husband. Rachel begins an exploration of self driven by a force that she is compelled to follow but does not understand while fighting to maintain status quos and her identity.

This story is a traditional girl meets boy flick with two major twists; the main character is married and the boy is another girl. Following in the footsteps of movies like "In and Out", it plays off relationships that change as identities change.

The movie touches on the topics, ever so politely, of being lesbian, gay and gay marriage. Being said, although the movie is not graphic in content, you'll have a lot of explaining to do if you bring your children to this picture.

For the gay and lesbian community, this movie shatters the myths and stereotypes associated with their lifestyles. The movie skirts some major issues by playing off of character ignorance, but still shows being homosexual as a life not taboo. Love can be right and sweet as long as you are happy with it.

The story is a heartfelt drama that has you pushing along with the unstoppable force of love. They did a great job allowing you to share in the sweetness of falling in love. If you want to share in this joy, go see this one.
