The movie is about a young man who goes on a game show called India's version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." He makes it to the highest level. A level that most doctors and lawyers will never make it to. Most people think this was a great accomplishment but not the host of the show. The host believes that he is cheating because he believes that a young man from an improvished background could never get this far. In the film "slumdog" refers to poor peoples of the country, hence the title "Slumdog Millionaire." The host sets up him up and the young man gets arrested and is thrown in jail where he is tortured in order to get the truth. Since he is telling the truth the entire time he is just tortured with bolts of electricity. Finally he goes over the accounts with the detective on how he acquired the answers. The young man goes through his life experiences to account for him being able to answer the questions on the show. Telling the truth the entire time. During the interrogation he states that he does not want the money but he is hoping that the love of his life is watching so that he can reconnect with her. While on the show he uses one of his lifeline to reach his brother but surprisingly the girl he wants to be with is on the other end. Then he is happy, acquires the last answer and wins a million dollars.
I think the movie was beautifully done. I would love to meat the person who wrote it. This is an interesting story to say the least. I liked it so much I would have to see it again. There was the feel of a love story but it was not completely focused on it. It was not like most American films where the focus of the movie is getting the guy or girl and it takes away the substance. This story was definitely more interesting than most American movies. It was purely from the heart. There was balance between the love story and an ideas of improvished youth with intellect.ual ability. It kept my interest the whole time. It does show no matter what you go through, your destiny is your destiny. I highly recomend this movie.
