Sons of Anarchy is one of those shows that feels like a filthy habit you have to drop but it's just too fun to watch. It's like that moth watching the flame, mesmerized by the pretty colors and he can't help himself till the flame burns him.

Sons of Anarchy Season 2 follows the further exploits of motorcycle gang Sons of Anarchy who take up residence in small town Charming. Charming is a small town in California that has its own problems but the Sons take on all comers to keep a sort of peace in the community.

Sons of Anarchy starts the season with a major issue from the previous season in the death of a members wife by one of its own on orders of the clubs leader. Of course the death of the wife was an accident as the club member was supposed to be the one who got hit but accidents do happen.

Keeping this secret is one factor of the season but eventually the member finds out and gets angry but does not take out his feelings, yet. The other big event of the season is the rivalry between town newcomer and white separatists front man Ethane Zobelle played by Adam Arkin.

Zobelle is not just a front man for the hate group who wants to take away the business interests of all the gangs in Charming, he is a very smart man who knows the law. He uses his brains to hurt the other groups and turn them against each other, getting them into worse trouble with the law.

The show is smart without all the usual gang stereotypes and uses the relationships and every day emotions of the characters in the series episodes as storyline and events. You really do get an emotional attachment and the feeling that the Sons of Anarchy are the good guys even when they are dealing in drugs and guns you know are going to kill and hurt innocent people.

The show is full of great events and real life drama that you can really relate too as well as individual things that could only happen in a series like this. One quote from Gemma that really says a lot about relationships in real life, total disclosure or tell the full truth in a relationship or the relationship is doomed to fail.

It's like that in real life for most every relationship and you get little tidbits and moments in the show that are so true in real life as well as the series. Season 2 is well worth taking a look at and I am sure I am going to have to go back and get season 1 to see how all this started, the show is that good.

The video for Sons of Anarchy is very good with both video and audio as both were being recorded in digital you can expect good looking and sounding Blu-ray. Sons of Anarchy is being filmed in a good variety of indoor and outdoor locations that really get a variety to your video that all looks equally well done.

Colors are well defined and skin tones look good throughout the series and the show has not included any glaring problems or obvious defects during filming. Video is well done and audio is just equally as good in Master DTS-HD 5.1 Surround Sound with plenty of good deep low frequency effect or bass.

As you could imagine with a show about a motorcycle gang driving Harley's you get a good deep bass effect that is apparent throughout all the 13 episodes of the season. Audio is also good with well positioned surround and you get really good sounding pans in several spots with action in fights and shoot outs as well as the everyday scenes like in the clubhouse.

Bonus content is a bit scarce but does include three audio commentaries on each disc and a good roundtable question and answer session with almost all the cast. Other features include a ten minute session about the morality of the Sons of Anarchy with Kurt Sutter and cast as well as deleted scenes and a three minute gag reel.

The audio commentary is alright but the roundtable session is the best of the available bonus material and the other features make for a somewhat decent addition but really not enough to fill out the season. The show only has 13 episodes and this makes for a shorter season than some shows that often have with upwards of twenty and more.

With only the one bonus feature being the real value of the content and the lack of more episodes you do have a bit of a value shortage but the show is worth the cost. Sons of Anarchy is a great series and the second season has the cast and creators really in the groove.

The second season has the show really shining and well worth a purchase as well as a look back at season one as a purchase for a great series. Sons of Anarchy avoids all the pitfalls of stereotypical gangs and brings the complex relationships to the heart of the series as you would expect for a good drama.
