Movie Review: Star Trek 2009 Film is Excellent!

Phillip W. Chambley
This excellent A+ modern day 2009 Star Trek family film has brought back the original characters just starting out in the Starfleet Federation of Planets in this long-time running saga television series and on the big screen theater, which has lasted for over 40 years! The writers (Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman) of this excellent A+ 2009 family film should be highly complimented simply because they are showing the "beauty/entertainment" and lovable characters of the original "Star Trek" episodes portrayed during the 1960's television shows.

Gene Roddenberry, original creator of the T.V. series "Star Trek" would even be amazed at the creative writings and special effects that the film producers and writers have used in this modern day 2009 film. As an original 1960's "Star Trek" die-hard fan. "What is truly unique about this 2009 film is the fact they have shown HOW each of the (6) six leading characters of the original Star Trek series actually started out and began their careers with the Starfleet Federation in their early days of youth!"

Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) was actually shown in this 2009 film being born aboard one of the original 1960's version shuttle crafts and growing up in Iowa U.S.A. driving a "Corvette" being a wild and "Crazy" driver, during his teenage days. Although, the film is depicted as being in the year 2387 or should I say "Stardate 2387!" James Kirk, son of Starfleet captain George Kirk, future Captain Kirk of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise has gradually grown up being a rambunctious child whom apparently has NO respect for authority, but is extremely smart?

After talking to Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) one day about the heroic nature of his father's death and what he did to save millions of life's on earth. Young James T. Kirk decides to show up at the Starfleet academy the next day and ironically figures out a way to "cheat on the Kobayshi Maru test?" Programmed by Commander Spock! (This idea was shown in the original Star Trek motion picture in 1979). This scene in the modern day film also shows just how "clever" James T. Kirk can be!"

Naturally, young commander Spock (Zachary Quinto) simply states that Kirk "cheated on the test", but is interrupted because Starfleet has received a distress signal from the planet Vulcan. Young Leonard McCoy (Karl Urban), also known as "Bones", and 3 years with the academy, smuggles suspended Starfleet member James T. Kirk onto a space shuttle, and thus the "Star Trek" journey begins with enormous special effects!

Which also includes other original Star Trek characters such as "Uhura" (Zoe Saldana), Montgomery Scott A.K.A. "Scottie" (Eric Bana), "Pavol Chekov" (Anton Yelchin) and "Hikaru Sulu" (John Cho). "Pavol Chekov states that he is only 17 years of age?" Which shows a lot of the original 1960's television comedy and entertainment brought back to life in this extraordinary historic "Star Trek" 2009 film.

"McCoy keeps giving James T. Kirk shots over and over in his neck!" Scottie even says? "I've given her all shes got captain!" And even the original statement of "Beam us up Scottie!" from captain James T. Kirk of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise still exist in this modern 2009 film. Even the original "Spock" (Leornard Nimoy) places a beautiful and heartwarming part in this film, as the older "Spock".
