Movie Review : the Twilight Saga: New Moon

Oh...Twilight. You always success to overturn the observer's prediction. Years ago when Twilight was released by a small studio named Summit Entertainment, people were not sure about the results of its box office. Analysts' presumption, the box office are also same: they agreed that Twilight might not be a total flop, but it would not be very successful. Although the novel written by Stephanie Meyers has been popular everywhere, the history proves that the bestselling novel is not necessarily able to sell on the big screen. Twilight prediction turned out to overturn people prediction with the dollar as much as possible. The Analysts stunned, busy people find out who was Robert Pattinson? The girls fell in love with the vampires, and the Twilight fever exploded everywhere. Summit Entertainment to move quickly and directly bought the rights to film the remaining of three Twilight saga novels.

A year passed. Right in the same week in 2008, the New Moon was released. Many sequels that never matched up to his first movie. The franchise of Harry Potter is success in the first movie. Angels & Demons and Prince Caspian in fact their income is down than their predecessor. Could be all the Twilight fever has passed and New Moon will be a mediocre movie in the box office, isn't it? And the analysts once again stunned. New Moon is not just big. It became a giant by printing the third biggest opening weekend in history - behind only of The Dark Knight and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. And New Moon is also a record-breaking opening day and midnight most! With Eclipse film was released only seven months later, people only can wonder: how far the popularity of Twilight? And how many girls who will be gasped tthe name of Robert Pattinson in their sleep?

Okay, we go into the movie review. The story in the New Moon is a direct connection of the Twilight. Here Bella still beg Edward to bite her and turn her into a vampire so she can live forever on Edward's side. For some reason, Edward instead decide to draw a relationship with Bella and destroy his life. Bella's life after losing Edward fell down. She scream every night because of nightmares. Se lost her spirit for life and never again go anywhere. Then Bella discover an oddity. Every time she challenge the danger that threatens her life, she can see the shadow of Edward. Luckily for Bella, the hole in her heart is temporarily cured by her friendship with Jacob. Who would have thought that Jacob also keep a secret? Secrets which would make Bella choose between her love for Edward or her friendship with Jacob.

Before I mention my opinion about this movie, there are two things I need to confirm first. First I am not a fan of Twilight and Twilight hater. I tried to assess the creation objectively. Secondly I have never read its novel so I won't know if there is a story way that cut from its novel or not.

In the story, and effects, I'm honest, I prefer the New Moon than Twilight. The story of Jacob and Bella's friendship is healthier than absurd romance of Bella and Edward. I am a little sorry for Edward's decision to go away from Bella without a good reason. Previously there is a small incident in the Cullen family, but the scene is not enough as a catalyst to separate Bella and Edward. When the both met again at the end of the film is a direct affection existed between them feels forced and disturbing, especially because the whole movie viewers continue to see friendly relations between Jacob and Bella to grow and develop. A little heart-rending to see Bella calmly dump Jacob desperately trying to restore the lost spirit of Bella since losing Edward. Its effect views the change of Jacob and his friends is also cooler - probably because the New Moon's budget is double from Twilight (and see the success of this movie, I would not be surprised if the budget will add to Eclipse).

About its actors, Robert Pattinson is so far loved by his fans, he do not more appear in this film. New star in the New Moon is the Taylor Lautner. Lautner is almost replaced because of Chris Weitz as the director feel Lautner is too thin to act as Jacob. Fortunately, Lautner promises to change his appearance and promises to prove. Jacob that is muscular bodybuilder looks like steal some Pattinson's fans, mainly because he is always faithful to consort Bella through difficult times. The main disadvantage of this film instead of Kristen Stewart as Bella. Not one of Stewart's acting up acting out the frustration Bella left Edward. After all, that makes me dislike is how the depiction of Bella character. I know there are many women who had been left by her dream man, but none that I see depression and screaming every night like Bella - well other than the woman who has a mental disorder I think.

New Moon is far from perfect but it is also not a trash movie like many men say. I even have suspected that the men who despise this movie was hitted by Leonardo DiCaprio syndrome - the syndrome which DiCaprio was disfigured because of his acting in Titanic tahe the hearts of the women, as most men are not confident to see their own bodies when compared with the body of Edward and Jacob.
