Movie Review: Zeitgeist

Clark Richards
Zeitgeist, the movie is being widely viewed on Google video with more than a million alleged to have viewed it since it's release in June. Zeitgeist a German expression literally means the "spirit of the age" and can be loosely translated to mean the character or ethos of the time.

The movie Zeitgeist is a two hour diatribe against Christianity, organized religion, the government of the United States, world business leaders and any others that can be categorized as the members of the "ruling elite".

The movie will appeal to those that feel that most of what happens in the world is a result of a conspiracy among the ruling classes to control the masses and generate riches and profits for the wealthy to dispose of as they see fit. It will be particularly appealing to the 9/11 conspiracy crowd, although nothing new is added to the present belief by conspiracy theorists that the United States was the real attacker on it's own people and set off of a series of controlled explosions that resulted in the ensuing death and destruction.

There is something in Zeitgeist for anyone that wishes to question religion, tradition, government, world monetary policy and a host of other institutions in the world. It is a well done propaganda piece that certainly appeals to the uneducated, naive, disaffected or others looking for a simple reason to understand the complicated interrelationships between people, cultures and nations.

This alleged documentary can perhaps best be enjoyed by those that want to see how propaganda can be effectively employed to promote myth, create controversy, doubt, division and otherwise cause disaffected individuals or groups to fall prey to myths and lies.

Simplicity, strong emotional appeal and eye-catching visual imagery are mixed with snippets of truth to alter the way people might think or feel about their nation or society are effectively used to make their points. However, the failing is that issues are not adequately explained and facts are manipulated. The producers of this film are not identified.

Once the viewer makes it through the first 10 minutes of imagery, the film begins in earnest to demonstrate all the facets of how propaganda can be effectively employed. Go to zeitgeistmovie.com.

Didn't Peter Joseph produce and direc this movie. I found this info easily. It is a distressingly rambling article.

A horrible article which, while articulate, manages to express nothing but the fears of an old soldier-slave. Sad to see blind faith in a supposed guardian of the republic. Sadder still for the guardian not to realize the republic died before he was born.

Clark must work for new global disorder spin masters. The only propaganda about Zeitgeist is the cold, calculating hidden agenda of this special interest review.

Propagandist review of modern reality that elite corrupt forces refuse to acknowledge. As much of a lie as the last 8 years of GOP fascism.

You dismiss it as propaganda, but offer no evidence of it being so. State your case more clearly please.

It always so easy to dismiss a film that challenges your belief system in a basic way. Calling something "propoganda" is a thought-stopper -- designed to short-circuit critical thinking. See it for yourself -- don't let lazy critics sway you in advance!

maybe you are the ones who want to live in an ilusion. The thing that Zeitgeist says all the time is "go and check for yourself". It looks that you haven't done this.

It's no surprise that the neo-conservative right would want to demonize this film. On a sidenote, I thought that the information outlet of choice for, as you put it, are the "naive and uneducated" was Fox News...
