Movie Sequel Disasters

Ryanick Paige
We have all see sequels that have never should have been made. You know how it goes. We watch a movie that is awesome. Maybe even the best movies we have ever seen because we have enjoyed it so much. Now we anxious await the sequel for months sometimes years. However long it is it seems like it takes forever for the sequel to be released.

The time has come and the sequel has been released. You are off to the movie theatre and get your tickets, popcorn, and soda. You find the perfect seats dead center in the middle to take full effect of the surround sound. The previews for other new releases roll. Anticipation is building. Finally the movie begins. It starts out slow and you think it will get better. Halfway through you are having your doubts. At the end your realize you just wasted two hours of your life you will never get back.

This is my list of the three movies that never should have made sequels.

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights

There are few words that can actually describe how truly awful this movie was. Patrick Swayze's cameo as the dance class instructor is the only link between the sequel and the original. Perhaps the movie would have had a leg to stand on if it was not a sequel to a hit movie.

Batman & Robin

It is hard to pinpoint that exact reason this movie was such a flop. Maybe it was the erect nipples on Batman and Robin or the less than stellar acting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. Either was this was a sequel that should have never hit the big screen. As a special effects movie this one might get better ratings but as a movie with a plot it fails big time. Without their super hero costumes on the characters are, well boring. They have no lives. It is about being in the costume.

Speed 2: Cruise Control

I guess the writers and producers were hoping to catch another big break with Speed 2, but it was an epic fail. The less than original plot line was a carbon copy to the original. The only difference was that they replaced the bus with a boat. This movie couldn't have been saved if Keanu Reeves himself would have been in it. If you saw the original Speed you know what was going to happen step by step.
