Movie Theater Apologizes for Their Rated PG and R Movie Mix-up

Something Didn't Seem Right.

Andrew Berry
What seemed to be a normal night quickly took a drastic turn for the worse as the employees an a local movie theater known as Island 16 put the wrong film in for awaiting families.

Island 16 is a local movie theater, and is somewhat new compared to the other theater's in the area.

As families went to see the PG rated film "The Last Mimzy" at 8 P.M last Friday, they were both disturbed and surprised as the screen displayed another movie instead? What was this mystery movie that was accidentally displayed on the big screen instead? "The Hills Have Eyes Too 2" was the movie accidentally displayed by Island 16 employees. In case you are unsure what "The Hills Have Eyes 2" is, it is a gory movie by Wes Craven. The reason for the error altogether is still unsure, Island 16 will not tell the nature of the incident. However, we do know that "The Hills Have Eyes 2" was set to play in the same theater after "The Big Mimzy" at 10:25 P.M.

Island 16, owned by National Amusements, is currently aren't harsh criticism by the public for not telling the nature of the incident at hand.

Wanda Whitson, the National Amusements' spokeperson had this to say to Newsday about the dilemma:

"National Amusements extends its deepest apologies to the children and families in the audience. We are working with our theater's managers to correct this situation and ensure that it does not happen again."

The opening scene's contents of "The Hills Have Eyes 2" is a shot of a nude , bounded woman in labor. What the woman in the movie gave birth to is what seemed to be a mutant creature with claws.

Frank Doll, age 31 from Mastic, was a customer at Island 16 that fateful night as well with his family. This is what he had to say about the situation and how it impacted his family:

"My wife is eight months pregnant and he's been asking, 'Is that what mommy's going to have?' We've been trying to explain that all day."

The impact on the children must have been strong. Mixing up a G or PG movie with the original movie that was supposed to be played, "The Great Mimzy", would have been fine. However, since the movie that was accidentally played was "The Hills Have Eyes 2" was a rated R movie that also have a gruesome opening scene, the situation is a lot different since it has effected many people, and it could have an everlasting effect as well.

The rated R movie played for 10 whole minutes before the Island 16 employees caught onto the mistake and fixed the problem.

Despite the mix-up, the amount of customers at Island 16 were as abundant as ever. From a personal point of view I can tell anyone that Island 16 is one of the most clean and customer service friendly movie complexes around. The prices are somewhat higher, but it is worth it since the customer associated with Island 16 is much higher than other theaters in the area.

-points and laughs- Ahah!! Oh my god!! Seriously?! How do you mix The Hills have Eyes with The Last Mimzy?! Was someone drunk in the projection room or something?! Seriously though, if the first TWO SECONDS of a movie, is a naked girl screaming, I'd pack up Timmy in the car, and drive him home. I wouldn't even CARE about the useless voucher these theaters give out. "Oh, gee, honey. We get a FREE large popcorn next time we visit!" Yeah. That kid will DEFINITELY need Popcorn in the years of therapy he'll no doubt be given.

That is terrible! Of course, as a parent, I wouldn't have been sitting around for 10 minutes before I notified someone about the mix up!
