Movie Theaters Around the Sacramento, California Area

Jason Cooley
The following is a guide to a few of the movie theaters around the different parts of the Sacramento, California area.

Century 16 Greenback Lane

6233 Garfield Ave., Sacramento, CA 95841

This is a newly remodeled movie theater that's very spacious and clean. The parking lot is a little harder to get in and out of than it should be but overall isn't too much of a problem. The outside atmosphere is well lit making your movie going experience more of a special event and therefore adding excitement to your night. This place can get packed so I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid long lines. I was able to show up during the day and by tickets to the first showing of a popular movie without having to wait in line. The theaters have great sound, big screens (it may sound weird but there are some theaters that actually have tiny screens keep reading for a review on one of these small screen theaters) with plenty of room to sit comfortably.

UA Olympus Pointe 12

520 N. Sunrise Ave., Roseville, CA 95661

This is another top notch theater. It's not as new and shiny as the previously mentioned movie theater but never the less this theater is my favorite movie theater in the area. The theater is clean, there is plenty of room in the main hall, the bathrooms are much more inconveniently located than they need to be for a place where time matters. The parking lot is easy to navigate through and there is plenty of parking though the worst parking is very inconvenient and far away. The screens are actually big and the sound is great. Now for my favorite part about this movie theater and the reason this place ranks number one in my mind. The seat's arm rests can be folded up so you and your date can snuggle up together if you would like. It's a minor improvement as far as cost to the theater but it's a big difference in comfort.

Century Downtown Plaza 7

445 Downtown Plaza, Sacramento, CA 95814

This movie theater is located inside of the downtown plaza mall so remember to consider the extra walking time to get to the theater and the tough downtown parking you will have to battle. This location isn't the roomiest place in the world and the overall experience is less than magical. If you live downtown then I can understand walking up and catching a movie but there is no way I would go out of my way to see a movie here.

UA Arden Fair 6

1739 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA 95815

The parking is great and the parking lot is straight forward and easy to navigate. This movie theater is located next to a mall so the traffic is a little busier than usual. The theater is not huge and the screens are small. The screen looks like an oversized TV. The sound isn't that great either at times you can hear the sound from the next theater over. I would also pass on this theater as well.

Century Laguna 16

9349 Big Horn Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95758

This movie theater is everything you would expect in a movie theater with really nothing extraordinary to it. It's clean the screens are big the sound is good and it has movies. The parking lot is very roomy and easy to drive through. This is the only movie theater located in the Elk Grove area of Sacramento but I wouldn't mind having to come here to see a particular movie.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
