AMC 24 - There are two AMC Theater locations in the Jacksonville area, one is located behind the Regency Mall at 9451 Regency Square Blvd. The other location is in Orange Park, connected to the Mall, and located at 1910 Wells Rd. They offer comfortable seating, but the staff is far from friendly. Drinks, of course, are not allowed (nor outside food of any kind), though that doesn't keep locals from trying to sneak things in inside big purses and pockets. The theaters are large, and they offer several concessions where single food items can cost more than $6. They recently raised ticket prices to $10 per adult. Though if you have the time off, they currently are offering $5 tickets for matinee shows (before 4pm). Children ages 2-12 get in for $5 everyday. They offer Digital 3-D Presentations: Add $3.00 per ticket and The IMAX Experience: Add $4.00 per ticket.
Cinemark Tinseltown is located at 4535 Southside Blvd. You won't miss this large, flashy theater nestled in the center of the area that's called "Tinseltown". Many fast food chains and large upscale restaurants surround this theater, making it a prime location for any type of occasion. It has the best seating of all the theaters in Jacksonville, making it easy to sit comfortably and enjoy a show. It's concession, like most, offers over-priced goodies, but their service is friendly and is willing to look the other way if you're holding a "foreign" cup of soda! Check it out below for pricing and specials:
Adult Evening $8.75
Adult Fri/Sat after 6pm $9.25
Child (1-11) $6.00
Adult Matinee before 6pm /Senior (62+) $6.50
Early Bird First Matinee Showtime (7 days a week). $5.25
Seniors Day - All Day Monday $5.00
All Day Tuesday $6.00
Student (with valid ID) $8.00
Regal Cinema has two locations: 9525 Phillips Hwy & 14051 Beach Blvd. These theaters are pretty average, they are smaller in size, and less popular (which is okay if you like less crowds). But they are typically dirty, and their locations are not the most convenient to nearby dining or events. The pricing is as follows:
Adult $9.50
Matinee (Before 3:00pm) $7.00
Child $6.00
Senior $6.50
Student $8.00
Military $8.00
San Marco Theatre located on 1996 San Marco Blvd. right outside Downtown Jacksonville is a wonderful privately owned theater that was originally built in 1938 and still maintains a lot of it's original architecture. Their website boasts "Unlike the normal fare you receive at your local Multi-plex, The San Marco provides you with freshly made pizzas, sandwiches, nachos, quesadillas, great beer and wine. The only place in town to enjoy dinner, drinks and a movie." Their statement is true, as all the food that is made in the San Marco Theatre is fresh and made to order. The concession stand is right behind seating, so beware of clanking glass or mumbled orders. But the upside is being able to watch your movie while waiting for a beer! Staff and owners are very laidback. Tickets are $7.
5 Points Theater is located at 1028 Park Street; it is a newly redone 1927 theater in the "arts district" of Jacksonville. The website states that "the theatre building offers retail and office space and has been restored, turning Jacksonville's oldest movie theatre into it's newest." Similar to the San Marco Theatre, the 5 Points Theater has a concession that offers beer and wine, as well as pizza, popcorn, and other snacks. Their ticket prices are below:
Adults $8.50
Children $6.50
Students $7.50
Seniors $7.50
Military $7.50
Matinee $6.50
