Movie Wars of the Heart Continue With ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’

Fans of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" should be no stranger to the heartbreaking love triangle that has ensued between Edward, Bella, and Jacob throughout the "Twilight" series. While Jacob appears to have lost more in this deal since the girl of his dreams chose to marry a vampire, he continues to fight to protect her from harm. Knowing this places Bella in a powerful but awkward position, as she becomes one of many leading movie characters who is forced to deal with matters of the heart where someone goes home without a happy ending.

Having a wealthy fiance did not keep Rose from falling in love with a third-class drifter named Jack in James Cameron's "Titanic." Rose seemed to benefit from the unique resources both men had, splitting her time between the luxuries of life among a higher social class and moments of spiritual enrichment and self-discovery offered within the lower class circle.

When the demands to behave like a dignified woman of stature from Rose's future husband was met with the cutting response "I'd rather be his whore than your wife," it was obvious who this young woman chose as a priority. Still, the sarcastic remarks she made before the boat sank were irrelevant for a brief moment when she later noticed her husband moving about among the survivors one morning.

In "The Notebook," an engaged Allie became torn over which man's heart she was willing to break after noticing that Noah, her long-lost love, is featured in a local newspaper. Commonsense would allow Allie to figure out that going to visit an old flame while her wedding is being planned only brings trouble among the three parties involved; someone's feelings will be hurt in the end.

Unlike Bella's situation in "The Twilight Saga" and Rose's experience in "Titanic," both men Allie loved were not in her life simultaneously. Therefore, this Southern belle chose to orchestrate a tug-of-war with her feelings that could have been easily prevented by staying with her Lon and not entertaining any possibilities of rekindling the relationship she and Noah had.
