Movies in Theaters Fall 2010: Top 10

Must See Films of Fall 2010

Ranee Wright
These ten must-see movies for 2010, in theaters this fall, are listed below in chronological order by release date. There are many genres to choose from including classic sci-fi, true stories, romance, drama, thriller, action and adventure.

This review includes release date, stars, synopsis, why it will or won't be a 2010 box office hit and more. It is going to be a great season to visit the cinema.

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger - September 22, 2010 - Romance

Starring Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Lucy Punch.

The infamous director Woody Allen returns to the big screen with a plot that is one of the greatest 2010 fall movies for romance and Woody movie lovers. Two couples' lives are complicated by passion and the desire to avoid adversity in their relationships.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps - September 24, 2010 - Drama

The great director Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas (playing Gordon Gekko) collaborate once again in this sequel that involves the 2008 financial predicament. Also starring Susan Sarandon and Charlie Sheen. The Wall Street movie trailer looks very entertaining and is sure to please viewers.

Howl - September 24, 2010 - Drama

Starring James Franco as Allen Ginsberg and one of my favorite actresses, Mary-Louise Parker. Directed by Robert Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.

Howl is based on the true story of a youthful poet's influential works, his love life, search for freedom and influence on society.

Secretariat - October 8, 2010 - Family/Drama

Disney brings the amazing true story of the 1973 Triple Crown winner to the big screen this fall 2010. Diane Lane stars Penny Chenery, housewife and mother, and John Malkovich as Lucien Laurin, a veteran trainer.

Together, against all odds, they conquer a male-dominated trade with the help of one of the best racehorses ever to grace the racetrack. This fall film is sure to spark emotion and the feeling that you can do anything you set your mind to with hard-work and determination.

Conviction - October 15, 2010 - Drama

Another true story, this fall movie also involves conviction and passion. Hilary Swank plays Betty Anne Waters, an unemployed single mother of two that will stop at nothing to prove her brother's innocence. She becomes a lawyer and takes on his case. Also starring Minnie Driver and Sam Rockwell.

Hereafter - October 22, 2010 - Drama/Thriller

Starring Matt Damon, Richard Kind and Jay Mohr. DreamWorks and director, Clint Eastwood, bring this thriller about death and how it touches and frames three culturally different people's lives.

Morning Glory - November 12, 2010 - Romantic/Comedy

Sure to be one of the best romantic movies of 2010, starring two of my favorite actors Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton.

Personalities clash when Colleen Peck (Keaton) must work with Mike Pomeroy (Ford) covering the morning news. Before long, Keaton is fighting to save her love life, reputation, job and news program.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I - November 19, 2010 - Adventure/Fantasy

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes.

The Harry Potter finale is broken into two parts and Part I is sure to be a box-office hit movie for 2010. Harry, Ron and Hermione take on Horcruxes (the secret power and immortality of Voldemort). Harry Potter fans will be hitting theaters at full force to see this film.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader - December 10, 2010 - Adventure/Fantasy

Starring Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes, and Bill Nighy.

The third Narnia film is sure to be a charm and one of the better movies in theaters fall 2010. Edmund, Lucy and Eustace are sucked into a painting and end up on a boat that is headed toward the end of Narnia.

The adventure begins as they journey to save the land and creatures of Narnia. Disney is not backing this movie for 2010 but I think it will be as good if not better than the first; with Michael Apted directing it.

Tron Legacy 3D - December 17, 2010 - Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi

Walt Disney will present the sequel to the movie Tron (1982) in late autumn, 2010. Jeff Bridges will play the role of Kevin Flynn, the hacker from the original film that was sucked into the digital world. His son, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), gets pulled into the cyber-world when he begins searching for his father.

The graphics and visuals will captivate audiences, especially Sci-Fi lovers. Tron Legacy is one of the most anticipated films of fall 2010. If you have never seen Tron, I highly recommend you do. It will make you truly appreciate the graphics of the 21st century.
