What is Halloween without watching the Halloween movies, right? To create the mood, I recommend turning off all the lights in the house, cook some popcorn, and make sure the house is REALLY quiet. The music alone in this movie creates that shiver down my back that makes this one of my top movies I watch on Halloween. Another movie I recommend is Friday the 13th. It's scary, creepy, and sets the tone for that Halloween feeling.
To keep the scary feeling going, I'd watch Nightmare on Elm Street. The truly scary ones were the first three sequels, but I liked the 4th & 5th one also. I like werewolf movies also, so I would watch Howling. This had about 6 sequels, but the first and second one are the only ones worth watching. The Blob, the 80's version, is a must see for this time of year also. Out of all my movies, this one still sends a shiver up my spine. In this movie, a gelatinous blob has landed on Earth and grows by eating people. This movie is more sci-fi, but it's still a good movie to watch during Halloween.
I mentioned earlier that I like movies that are considered horror, but are actually funny and/or cheesy. One example of this type of movie is Killer Clowns from Outer Space. This movie is about clowns, from outer space, that land and terrorize a small town by turning them into cotton candy balls and taking them back to their ship, where they are stored for eating. When I first saw this movie, I was like, "What?!", but the movie grew on me, so it's an absolute must-watch around Halloween.
Other movies that are on my cheesy, yet must-watch list are Leprechaun, Demonic Toys, and Critters. Leprechaun is about a demonic little being that is always looking for his gold and will kill anyone that stands in his way or have any one of his coins. It's really funny seeing this little being dressed like a leprechaun going after these people that has his coins. Demonic Toys is about this woman cop who gets trapped in a haunted warehouse filled with possessed toys. There are some absolutely funny parts in this movie, particularly with the Baby Oopsie-Daisy doll. Critters is about some porcupine-like creatures, from outer space, that's landed and is terrorizing people in a small town. The storyline for this movie is really not that good, but despite that, I enjoyed the movie.
If I were in the mood to watch a cute Halloween-based movie, I'd watch Hocus Pocus. In this movie, a couple of teenagers with a little girl must stop three witches from taking all the children's life-force in order to live forever. This movie was really cute and the singing was catching. Of course, with Bette Midler singing, any song has potential.
Well, those are just a few of my favorite movies to watch on Halloween. If you haven't seen any of these movies, I would watch them and enjoy. Happy Halloween!
