One of the things that I love about this curriculum is that it comes with a suggestion on how to organize your day as well as a realistic estimation of how much time each lesson would take. It also comes with a great vocabulary concept and many ideas for engaging the accelerated learner. Following these simple instructions have made this school year go very smoothly so far.
Another plus that I've found with the Moving Beyond the Page curriculum is that each subject works together with the others to solidify the lesson. When we are talking about maps and landforms in geography, we are discussing how the geography affects our community in the social studies lesson. Matter and measurement (science and math) tended to go hand in hand as well. Nearly every day, my son would recognize things as we were out and about and he could actually communicate to me that he could see how the 4 subjects related to each other as well as the "real world" around us in our own community.
I feel that Moving Beyond the Page had very affordable curriculum options. You can borrow books and return them for a reduced price, purchase the curriculum with books for a full price, as well as do an online version for a much less expensive price. They also offer payment options as well as paying in full at no extra charge.
I have been very impressed with the customer relations side of the Moving Beyond the Page company. It is a husband and wife team working out of North Carolina. Every time I've called the company, the call was answered right away by Keith Howe, the husband behind this team. I have found the same ease of communication through email correspondence. They always get back to me right away. I was blown away the first time I called, when not only did Keith answer the call, but he gave me free shipping on my order!
I was a bit concerned that there was no art or literature subject with this curriculum. But after using this curriculum for 10 weeks, I've discovered that the literature and art are incorporated into the lessons, which reinforces the information in a fun and meaningful way. The artwork we make together can be prominently displayed and serves as a reminder of the lesson as we're moving forward.
I was concerned that my son would not like homeschooling at all. But to my surprise, he absolutely loves it and has no desire whatsoever to return to public school. I am able to focus more time on our relationship and establish a foundation of a love of learning and a dedication to excellence.
