In the summer of 2009 10,444 home were sold in and around Phoenix, Arizona. Even with the unemployment rate hovering around the double digits, there were homes selling daily. Tempe is the home of Arizona State University, the largest college in the state. For the young professional thirty something, several hot communities should stand out including; Chandler, Scottsdale, and Ahwatukee. High-end shops, upscale restaurants, and bars line the pristine areas for the hip crowd. The neighbors in these communities may be sports stars, news reporters, or other business professionals. The top schools in the state are located in these communities.

If bedroom communities are of interest, consider Avondale, Queen Creek, Surprise, Anthem, or Maricopa. Any of these communities are less than an hour's drive from Phoenix. Each community is located off of an intersection and new construction is booming. A new build in these communities will cost a fraction of the cost of an older home in other parts of the state. Because of the drive these homes are more economical, larger, with schools located inside each community.

For the Phoenix area, data shows that the market is rebounding. Housing permits are increasing daily. The resale market is a surprising 59% higher than it was at this time in 2008. Multiple offers are being made on homes, where a few months ago no offers were on the table.
