Moving to Poitou Charentes: How to Make Your Move to France Successful

Rich Brown, aka
The British once referred to Poitou Charentes as Dordogne's poor neighbor because of how its economy used to not be so promising. But that has changed in the recent years, as it has become one of the most popular choices of home purchase for many relocating families who want to spend their holiday seasons away from home. The current population is at roughly 11,600 permanent residents. The rest of the population is made up of people from all over the world coming to reside in Poitou Charentes.

Those hoping to begin their lives anew in Poitou will be happy to know that there is easy access to the area. They would most likely fly in via Poitou Charentes Airlines. If not, there are also several smaller airports throughout the region that also allow access, but are mostly for the smaller cities in the ara. Some of the airports used by those coming into Poitou Charentes are located in such cities as Poiters, Niort, or Rochefort. These smaller airports in the area only offer service to the larger cities in France to allow you access to other countries around the world.

The region has many expats, although perhaps not as many as other areas of France. These new residents, though, are welcomed by the government, since they are helping to raise the area's economic value; the government, therefore, allows for many foreigners to move to the region and offers many services to assist them. The locals also seem quiite hospitable to the relocating expat.

One of the fastest growing sectors in Poitou Charentes's economy is the real estate market, which is growing rapidly with the flock of many younger people to the region. As technology rapidly becomes a factor all over the world, it has been harder to catch on in this once-poor part of France. However, increasingly it is playing a big role in the jobs that are available I the region. This is partially responsible for the influx of youth to the area.

A family with children, moving to Poiton Charentes, will find that there are many superior schools for children up to 18 years of age, and even a few schools for those looking to further their career. The region has 6 university campuses, 23 engineering schools, and 19 business schools that are located all across the region. These schools are populated with some 7,000 scientists and more than 150,000 students. The schools have some of the highest academic performances in the world, thanks to equally high standards in the classroom.

Poitou Charentes offers the traveler many convenient ways to get around, boasting plenty of public transportation solutions. These range from a public bus system which is fairly affordabl,e to the French railway, which allows a person to travel back and forth all around the country at a very affordable rate. In some of the larger cities, there is also the new monorail system which allows faster travel and commutes back and forth to work. Many of the locals also purchase and own their own vehicles in order to get back and forth all over the region and cities.
Settling into Poitou Charentes can be jarring, since there are such drastic differences in language, dress, even mannerisms. However, if the newcomer takes the time to properly research the steps it takes and what all is needed when moving to Poitou Charentes, then it will be an easier acclimation period. It's important to make sure that all documents are up to date and that the newcomer has planned properly in order to alleviate all immigration issues.

Most people who live in the larger cities tend to rent property rather than actually buying it. In the countryside and smaller cities is where a traveler usually finds a majority of homeowners. Houses and apartments are somewhat affordable and are well in the price range of the salaries of jobs that would motivate people to move to the region in the first place.
