How to Avoid Moving Truck Problems

So, you've chosen to move? Wonderful! Congratulations on your new home. Moving is an exciting time. Moving can also be a challenging time. There are so many things to do. Packing, sorting, unpacking, planning, the list goes on and on. When all of your things are packed and it's time to go you need that truck ready and waiting. You need everything all set and ready to go. Problems with the moving truck, loading it, paying for it, or with the agency in general are just not needed at this time. Moving is complicated enough. Here's how to avoid hassles when the time is right for you to rent the moving truck and move to your new home.

The last minute is not the time to rent the truck! Renting a moving truck is a process all of it's own. Sometimes trucks need to be reserved. As soon as you know that you are actually going to move is the time to start making the plans and arrangements to rent the moving truck. In order to avoid the problem of not being able to get a truck you'll need to make sure to call ahead. Calling or stopping by your local truck rental company as soon as you know your going to move gives you the most time to make sure you'll have that truck. Make sure to ask about all fees and deposits before the day comes to pick it up. At the time of pick up a deposit is required. They will calculate the expected use of the truck. You pay for using the truck and also so much per mile. All must be budgeted into your move in order to avoid the problems of paying more that expected on the moving truck. That can result in the problem of not having enough money for other necessary expenses.

Once the arrangements have been made to have the truck ready and waiting for the right moment it's time to figure out what will be moved. Pack this way: Throw out or otherwise get rid of all things that are not needed and have no use. This cuts down on the amount of things you will have to fit into that moving truck. Each member of your family needs to carefully decide what to bring. Using boxes and bags can help you to save space.

It's hard to know exactly what to put into the moving truck first. Most have a nice shelf area in the very front. You can fit a lot of bags or boxes on it. Pack that area first so that it's not blocked and unable to be packed. Many, many bags of clothes can be safely tucked away there. Clothes are important and necessary to bring. It's also a good thing to know exactly where on the truck they are. Really that shelf is a great spot.

The next thing you'll want to consider getting on that truck is your furniture. It has to have a place and if you pack smaller things in the truck first it might not. Large things go on first and smaller things get placed in empty space last. You have to make sure that your appliances and furniture get there because they help to make your home function. What's a living room with no couch or entertainment center? Or a kitchen with no stove or refrigerator? What is a bedroom with no bed, or dresser? It's a problem.

Once all of the big stuff is on the moving truck pack the rest in any available empty spot. If everything is well labeled then it doesn't really matter where on the truck it is. Where ever it will fit is truly the best place for it to be. If you pack the truck tightly and take care not to leave any open and unused space then you may only need to make one trip! Enjoy your move and remember to drive the truck carefully! Hauling a large load is much different than driving your car. Take care and thanks for reading!

good tips, believe it or not I know people who will pack things they know will be thrown away once they get there. What a waste of time, money and resources!
