Mozilla FireFox vs. Microsoft Internet Explorer

Which is Better?

N.C.
I prefer to use Mozilla FireFox for for many reasons. The main reason is that is just works. I use it because Internet Explorer (IE) crashes all the time. It also lacks many features that FireFox has.

To start you have to think about spyware and viruses. They lurk around every corner waiting for your computer to be their next victims. Internet Explorer is not as secure and does not offer a strong built in security system. While FireFox's built in protection is not the "the works" it caters to the basic needs of a Internet user.
Another thing that bugs me about IE is that is has so many spammy toolbars available to download. Many of them also download onto your computer with out your consent or knowledge. Many of the toolbars lure you into downloading them with claims like they have powerful pop up blockers and themes to go along with IE. Most actually generate the pop ups you have as well as the viruses. The open up your computer to everything floating around the World Wide Web.

IE also lacks customization. That is something many people appreciate but when it comes to their very own Internet browser they have no idea what is available to them. With FireFox you can customize it to the tee. There are thousands of themes and extensions available to download. The offer extensions that tweak things to exact way you want them. Many are just fun to have. Now before you worry about how the extensions will slow down your whole Internet experience they do not. There is this blog I read once where the guy downloaded the to 100 extensions available for FireFox and the speed of the browser remained the same. That proves how amazingFireFox is.

I would have to say there can be downfalls using FireFox. Many sites do not support it yet but there is a quick fix for that. The fix is called IE Tab. It is basically an extension that reopens the webpage you are visiting into an Internet Explorer simulation. This way you can visit IE only sites while still using the functional FireFox. It also has settings where you can add sites to automatically open in IE Tab. IE Tab already adds Microsoft Updates sites to the list so you don't have to worry that much about that.

All in all there are many pros and cons on both browsers. I enjoy using Mozilla FireFox and think that everyone should try it out. If you don't try it out you can't choose for yourself. I also understand that there are many other browsers out there and some are perfect for certain people to use. Also those of you who do not use Windows, FireFox is available for Linux and Mac.

Please try it out. You will not regret your decision.
