Mr. Chip's Movie Review My Family (Mi Familia)

Mr. Chip's
(Please note "My Family" is rated R. So as I always say temper your viewing habits. Based on age and subject appropriateness).

Basically My family is the epic saga of The Sanchez Family. Now I am not sure if it is a true story. But it could have been based in fact. It's three main characters are Edward James Olmos (Paco), Jimmy Smits (Little Jimmy) and Esai Morales (Chucho). Other important characters are of course Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez. Tony and Irene Sanchez (The two daughters of the Sanchez Family).

In 1928 when he is 18. Jose Sanchez sets out from a small village in Mexico. On his way to California. Which is a part of Mexico at that time. He is destined to visit his next of kin. His Uncle EL Californio. After meeting EL California things speed up for Jose and change. He meets Maria. When he becomes a day laborer. Crossing from East Los Angeles to Los Angeles. They marry and start a family. But their joy is short lived when one day Maria is out shopping. This was during the great Depression. Maria is rounded up with many other legalized Mexican-American citizens. She is thrown into the boxcar of a train and shipped to the interior of Mexico. Where it was hoped that many of the Mexican citizens who were residents of California. Might give up trying to get back home. But though she is pregnant again Maria vows to get back home and to have her baby also. His name will be Chucho. He will be the first generation for The Sanchez Family.

I had many favorite parts. But I guess I liked the ending if I can give it up just a tad. When Jose and Maria look at each other and say that God has been good to us and we have had a wonderful life.

And I will leave you with one of my few "short" movie reviews. Now go out and rent it. Or get it at your local library. If they don't have it ask them nicely to purchase it. Till next time. Cheers
