Mr. President, Please Don't Support Illegal Immigration of Swine Virus

Raj
Swine flu is spreading. It has already killed a 23 month old boy at a Texas hospital. The child used to live in Matamoras, Mexico. The child had traveled with his family from Mexico to Texas. And the child died in Texas, on Monday night.

Victims of swine flu virus have also been found in California, Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, Kansas, Arizona, Nevada and Ohio. In New York, hundreds of school children have been identified as victims of the deadly virus. ABC News reported that US is the second hardest hit country, after Mexico.

It has come to light that the people identified as victims of this virus had either traveled to Mexico, or had established some form of contact with people traveling from Mexico, within the past three weeks.

The virus is known to spread easily from human-to-human contact. There are currently no vaccines available that could create immunity within a person against this virus. The virus may cause severe upper respiratory disorders that could kill a person, if the respiratory disorder is left untreated. There are medicines that could help the upper respiratory disorders. Tamiflu is the anti-viral medicine that could help these victims, but there may be severe shortage of this medicine, should the doctors start prescribing it to thousands of people.

As reported by Daily Mail of United Kingdom, doctors in United Kingdom have already warned of severe shortage of anti-viral drugs and face masks. Daily Mail also reported that United Kingdom is already facing this shortage crisis. We all know that citizens of United Kingdom are dependent on "socialized health care system". Luckily, as it stands now, Americans are currently not dependent on "socialized health care system". So one would only expect that America would cope up with this crisis much better than United Kingdom. But even then, there will be saturation point, beyond which, even our American Health care system (which is much better than United Kingdom's) cannot cope up with the huge demand for these anti-viral drugs, if millions of us catch this virus.

Given all the consequences and the risks we will be facing, one can only hope that President Obama will act fast, and close our borders. One can only hope that President Obama will act fast, and stop the illegal immigration of this virus from Mexico.

President Obama, please stand up for us. Please close our borders temporarily, till we get the situation under control. President Obama, please don't say "closing the border would be like shutting the barn door after the horses have escaped". Please close the gates of the barn, there are still thousands of swine virus infected horses in it, trying to get to our land. President Obama, please don't support illegal immigration of swine Virus into our great country.

Raj you really should check your facts before you produce such baseless claims. If you compare USA and UK health care systems the UK is a clear winner. Not to say that it is perfect, but it does a much better job of providing affordable and equitable healthcare to its population.

15% of GDP in USA is spent on Healthcare ($6700 per capita). In UK its 8% ($2700 per capita)
Yet on all measures of life expectancy and infant mortality the UK fares better than USA.
Healthcare - just like education, sanitation and basic infrastructure is the responsibility of government. The idea that a private company, whose primary motive is to deliver a profit to its shareholders, is best suited to deliver health care is short sighted in the extreme.

It does not make good economic sense for a company to provide expensive treatment to those who cannot afford to pay for it. But there is a moral and social obligation for a society to provide this very service.

Andy - before you call people as "naive and ignorant" talk to people from UK..they will tell u the fact..People have to wait big time in a queue to see the doctor in UK or get dictated by govt on the doctor they can see or get dictated by govt on the max care they can get or get told by the govt that they cannot get treatment for cancer...

Our healthcare system is very good..If you work hard, earn the money, take the right insurance, you have no complaints...If u donot work, then you cannot get free healthcare :)

No policy of "from the people, based on their ability, to the people based on their need" ..

You are really naive and ignorant. How do you say that the american health system is better than the British. When all the documentaries and offical publications from the World Health Organization prove that the British is one of the best health system in the World and eveybody knows that the american health system is broken. More than 45% of the american population are uninsured and the poorest people in UK enjoy a better health than the richest people in USA. This last statement was establish by a scientific report in 2007. I suggest you to see two documentaries: SICKO and Sick around america.

Obama supposedly knew about this Mexican Swine flu 3 weeks ago yet did nothing to warn the American people.
So why would he be concerned about it entering the U.S. today.
The borders are not closed and illegal aliens from Mexico are still entering the country.
Business as usual with another Corporate puppet in office.
