Mr. President, How Can We Trust You?

Raj
President Obama, while fighting to pass the huge $787 billion stimulus bill, promised us that if the stimulus bill were to be passed, unemployment wouldn't exceed 8 percent. He warned the Congress and American People that if we didn't pass his stimulus bill, unemployment will hit 9 percent by 2010.

The $787 billion stimulus bill was drafted by Obama administration and Democratic Congress, and was signed into law by our President during the third week of February 2009. Seven months have passed since then. The Labor Department report released today, September 4th, 2009, shows that unemployment has increased to a 26 year high. The report showed that unemployment rate jumped, against expectations, to 9.7%. If laid-off workers who have settled for part-time work or have given up looking for new jobs are included, the under-employment rate reached 16.8 percent, according to economists.

Did the President lie to us, that unemployment will not exceed 8 percent if his stimulus bill is passed? Where is all the money from the huge Stimulus bill going to? Is it doing anything to create jobs? Or is it indirectly going to people who helped Obama get elected last year and not going to creating jobs for American public. Americans are asking these questions to the President.

American people, as seen in town hall forums, are clearly outraged that either the Stimulus bill was just a porkulus bill that did nothing to create jobs, or that the President lied to the American People with false promises that unemployment will not exceed 8 percent if stimulus plan is passed.

The President seems to have no clear answer, other than saying that his administration misjudged the economy. His administration still insists that the Stimulus is working. But the reality on the ground shows the opposite.

American people are questioning how they can trust this President with trillions of dollars in healthcare spending, when he clearly cannot get a grip on 787 billion in stimulus spending.

They are questioning how they can trust this President with what he says about costs and benefits of Healthcare reform, when he clearly seems to have erred or lied about unemployment not exceeding 8 percent, if the 787 billion stimulus bill was passed

The American People have the right to pose these questions to the President. After all, it is their money that he is spending. Hopefully, the President will answer them with facts and figures, rather than empty but lofty rhetoric's.

First, you have to post a link noting where you got the info that Obama promised that UE wouldn't go over 8%. Second, the UE that we're experiencing is a direct result of last
    September's crash and bailouts.
