MrBaby and the Two Bears - a Story for Imaginative Toddlers

Oral Stories I've Made Up and Now Written Down for My 2 Year Old Son

LorriAnne
Once upon a time, there were two bears, and their names were Bear and Ditto. They had a boy named MrBaby, and the three played together all the time. They were very good friends and had many wonderful adventures, even though some of these adventures were scary. MrBaby lived with his Mommy, and she played with MrBaby and the bears, too, but she didn't know they could walk and talk. MrBaby knew, though. He saw them walk all the time and they would tell each other stories and sing songs together.

MrBaby and his Mommy went to the park a lot, and it had a lot of trees, but not as many as the real woods had. Sometimes they all went to the real woods, and there were a lot of trees there. MrBaby and his Mommy would go camping sometimes, and other times it was just to go hiking and have a picnic. It was always a lot of fun.

The bears would go exploring sometimes when they were in the woods with MrBaby and his Mommy when MrBaby and his Mommy were eating. Then the bears would sneak away, and come back in a little bit. Sometimes, MrBaby would get done eating before the bears were back from their secret hike, and he could not find them. He would worry about them and his Mommy would take him to go look for them. She thought they had gotten dropped somewhere that she and MrBaby had hiked through, but that wasn't really the case, and MrBaby knew that. He knew that the two bears had wandered off again, but he also knew that sometimes they were scared and cold, especially at night.

One time, the bears had fallen off a cliff when they were being chased by a bunny rabbit, and they could not get back up the cliff again, and it got cold and dark, and they were very scared. They had to spend the entire night down there, until MrBaby's Mommy could get down the cliff in the morning. They were all afraid she would fall or that even MrBaby would fall, and that would not have been a good thing. Bears don't have bones, at least teddy bears, that is, and because of that, it is very hard for a bear to get hurt.

There are many stories about the two bears, MrBaby, and their adventures. Here are two more.

The Two Bears Try on Baby Clothes

One day, Bear and Ditto went walking in the woods, and they found a little house. They saw people in the yard, so they hid behind a tree. In a little bit, the mom told the little girl that it was time to go inside and eat lunch. When they went inside the house, Bear and Ditto walked up to the yard, went through the gate, and walked around to the back yard.

They saw a clothes line and a basket with some more clothes in it. Ditto said 'we should see if we can wear some clothes' and Bear said 'ok' so they tried some of the clothes on, and found some that fit them. Then, the little girl came out and said 'what are you doing wearing my baby brother's clothes? Get those off right now!' The two bears didn't know what to do, so they ran away through the fence and back into the woods. When they got to a stream going through the woods, they quit running, and sat down on a log.

Pretty soon, they noticed a little boy throwing rocks into the stream. Then he noticed them, too. He walked over to where the two bears were sitting at, and scratched his head. Then he asked out loud, 'how did those bears get the baby's clothes on them?' The two bears didn't know what to do, so they ran away again. This time, though, the boy chased them through the woods, and he was fast! The bears hid under a big bushy bush, and saw the boy as he kept running by.

They decided they had to go back to their own boy, MrBaby, and really fast, so they started to run again. They were so lost, and it was getting dark, so they sat down again. They asked each other many times what they should do, but they didn't know. Pretty soon, they heard something walking in the woods. When they looked at where they heard the noise coming from, they saw a light. They were scared again so they hid behind a tree. They thought the light was a monster with one glowing eye. The monster came closer and closer to where the bears were hiding at. They were very scared.

Then they heard MrBaby calling their names, and the Mommy calling for them, too. When MrBaby shone the light the other way, they hurried and ran out from behind the tree, and lay down so that MrBaby could find them. The poor bears were so cold, but they weren't scared any more. Their boy had found them!! When he saw them, he ran to them and picked them up. He hugged both of them all the way back to their campsite.

The Two Bears Find Sticky Crayons

Once upon a time, there were two bears, and their names were Bear and Ditto. One day, they went for a walk in the woods. They were having a good time singing and laughing and telling each other stories. They found a little bag with a zipper that was open. Bear picked it up and looked inside. He found little crayons, and they were all red and brown. All of them were very pretty colors. Bear said 'Ditto, look what's in the bag! Crayons!' Ditto took one from Bear and drew a line on a big stick. It was a sticky crayon. Ditto said 'it doesn't look like a crayon to me,' and touched the line he had drawn on the stick. 'Eeew,' he said to Bear. Bear touched the same line, and made a face. Bear took another crayon and drew a second line on the stick. When he touched it, it was sticky. 'Eeew,' said Bear. 'These are icky crayons! We should take these back to our boy and maybe he will know what they are.' 'Yes, let's take them back to MrBaby,' said Ditto.

Bear carried the bag first, and then he let Ditto carry it for a while. They stopped to color some big rocks they saw on the way back to MrBaby. Without thinking, they both sat down on one of the rocks. When they got back up a little bit later, Ditto ran over to see some pretty flowers and Bear started to laugh. Ditto turned around and asked, 'what is so funny?' Bear was laughing so hard he fell off the rock he had been sitting on, and rolled around and around on the ground. Ditto started to laugh at Bear. This made Bear sit up and ask, 'why are you laughing at me?' Ditto told him, 'your butt is all red from the sticky crayons!' Bear stood up to look, as best he could, and Ditto said, 'wait a minute! Is that why you were laughing at me? Do I have sticky crayon on my butt, too?' Bear nodded 'yes', and Ditto tried to look to see how bad it was, because Bear was covered in sticky crayon. They decided they better find their way back home and fast. They picked up the sticky crayons, put them back in the bag, and with Ditto carrying them, started to go back home.

When they got there, the boy was looking for them, and so was his Mommy. The bears climbed up on the chair on the front porch, and poked at the doorbell with a stick until they heard the bell inside the house. Mommy came to the door to answer it, and not seeing anyone, she looked down, like she always did, to make sure MrBaby or Princess Kitty, the family cat, wasn't in the way of the door, so nobody got a bonked head. When she looked down, she saw the two bears sitting on the chair, along with the maekup bag full of lipsticks.

'MrBaby, somebody brought your bears back. Oh my, they are covered in lipstick! How did that happen?' 'Bear and Ditto!' MrBaby was very happy to see them, but Mommy kept them from him, and told him they were covered in lipstick. They had to be washed first. Mommy took the two bears and MrBaby downstairs into the basement and let MrBaby watch them as they swam in the washing machine. Wish wash, wish wash, wish wash, wish wash, swim swim swim... The poor bears were so covered in lipstick, they had to be washed four times! But soon, they were clean enough to go into the washing machine. MrBaby and his bears were very happy that they were cleaned up and could get hugs from MrBaby.
