The Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Laundry Detergent in Lavender comes in a 64oz plastic bottle that's supposed to clean 32 loads. It has a black top and a lavender label with a drawing of a stick-figure woman doing laundry. The detergent itself is a pale lemon yellow color.
It contains plant-derived surfactants, cotton extract, borax, enzymes, solubilizing agents, essential oils of lavender and orange, fragrance, and preservative.
Mrs. Meyer's claims that this detergent is "aroma-therapeutic , and that it's essential oils not only have naturally occurring, hard-working, yet gentle cleansing agents, but they also provide a special, singular fragrance for your garments & linens."
I did my laundry a few days later with the Clean Day and I found I really liked the lavender fragrance.
I thought it was going to smell exactly like lavender, which has a soothing floral scent, but it smells very strongly of an orange rind. It's an unusual combination that I've never smelled before, but I really like it because it's calming but the orange oils makes it smell fresh & invigorating.
As far as cleaning my clothes, I think the Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day does a fairly good job, it's my favorite laundry detergent out of all of the eco-friendly ones I've tried. It cleanses my clothes and it's really good at removing stains.
It's hard to compare it to a mainstream brand like Tide because it doesn't create as much lather, but a capful of Clean Day creates a small amount of bubbles in a small or medium load, and my laundry comes out looking and smelling fresh & flowery.
When it comes to heavier or larger loads, I usually use a cap and half of the Clean Day just to be on the safe side though.
In the End...
Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Laundry Detergent in Lavender is great. It's gentle on the environment, it cleans my clothes well, and I prefer the strong lavender / citrus scent to the sunnier Lemon Verbena. I will be buying another bottle, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
