Amazon.com
Promise her anything, but give her a gift card for Amazon.com.
Barnes & Noble (BarnesandNoble.com)
A great source for books, DVD's, etc. Reasonable prices and free shipping on orders of $25 or more.
Cheryl's Cookies (CherylandCo.com)
There are a lot of great commercially baked cookies out there but Cheryl (a real person) is ahead of the game with dozens of varieties (including luscious frosted ones) and a delicious selection of sugar free as well. Cookies and brownies are individually wrapped and packed in beautiful gift boxes adorned with hand-tied satin bows and other decorations. Prices begin range from about $15 up but to receive a box of Cheryl's Cookies is an unforgettable moment. Shipping on certain selections is sometimes free and always free for service men and women.
Danish Windmill (DanishWindmill.com)
If your favorite female loves those famous Danish blue and white collectors' plates by Bing & Grondahl or Royal Copenhagen, here is a good place to buy them at a tremendous savings from the prices being charged in stores ($69 a plate, compared to $95 list price). This site also has other B&G and R.C. porcelain gifts plus an assortment of other great Danish stuff, including hard-to-find past issues of collectors' plates. Shipping is reasonable.
Fannie May Chocolates (FannieMay.com)
Any kind of premium chocolates are a perennial favorite, especially when beautifully boxed.
Lancome (Lancome-USA.com)
Top-of-the-line cosmetics and fragrances. Any woman would love to receive a gift card to be used here.
Overstock.com
Possibly the only place I could afford to buy sets of genuine black pearls for myself and my favorite young nurse and unofficial "niece." Overstock buys up excess inventory which other merchants sell for a song and passes savings on to us. Merchandise may vary but beautiful gems always abound and make a holiday gift that Mrs. Santa will always remember.
Philosophy (Philosophy.com)
These lusciously fragrant bath and beauty products are widely available but for best selection and prices, I advise shopping their website. For orders of $50 or more, shipping is free.
Vermont Country Store (VermontCountryStore.com)
If your mother, aunt or grandmother keeps wondering whatever happened to Tweed or Midnight in Paris colognes, your odds of finding them here are good. You can find almost anything here including surprisingly stunning nightgowns and robes for both women and men in all cost ranges, cozy warm flannel attire, and a great assortment of foodstuffs, candies, toys, games, gadgets and other merchandise which no one else seems to carry anymore. It's fun just to browse through the site, rather like visiting the last of the old-fashioned general stores.
Victoria's Secret (VictoriasSecret.com)
Great line of HUBBA-HUBBA lingerie, clothes, swim wear and shoes. Although my experience with this site has been negligible, I'm betting they have gift cards available too.
Woman Within (WomanWithin.com)
For the rest of us more timid types, another great line of lingerie, clothes, swim wear and shoes in a complete range of Medium, Large and Plus sizes. My advice: unless you are sure of her size and taste, buy her a gift card and present it to her along a catalog.
The Last Resort
If all else fails, access one of your credit card sites which offer for sale seasonal Visa, Master Card or Discover gift cards sometimes complete with greeting cards containing a personal message. Your favorite lady or BFF can buy anything she wants then.
One Last Bit of Advice
Many of these websites can be accessed through the famous portal site known as MyPoints.com. Enter MyPoints, sign up (it's free), then access a wide variety of other sites and whatever you purchase from them will earn you credits at MyPoints which can be redeemed for gift cards and other premiums to use for next Christmas.
