The discussion came on Matthews' Hardball show on MSNBC. Matthews' other guest was Democrat Congressman Raul Grijalva of Arizona. The Democrat responded to Matthews' question "What do you think of this proposal to deny ... citizenship to people born here to illegal parents?" with the following opening remark and a gem of a remark it was... "I think it's horribly dangerous to open up the Constitution to tamper with the Constitution."
Ahhhhh, aren't amendments to the Constitution legal and the Founder's proscribed method of addressing future issues? Why, I believe they are! Since when has the left considered the Constitution and original intent sacrosanct? This is the first I've heard of a modern lefty thinking the Document too perfect to amend. In fact, which ideology is forever forwarding the Document old, stogy, in need of massive revamping or otherwise a near total ignoring of because it was written by rich old white men more than 200 years ago? Ahhhh, that would be the LEFT! And now this Democrat cautions against "tamper[ing]." BS!
Has any other observer any recent recollection of a progressive thinking the Constitution is perfect as is? All I can recall are constant protestations that "it's a living document," and the like in a justification for exceptionally liberal interpretations of the Document in order to make what progressives want appear more palpable and Constitutionally legal. But I have zero recollection of any progressive arguing the Constitution is perfect as is. This is an entirely new turn. If only they meant it.
In yet another display of duplicity in the extreme Grijalva is acting. It was a good performance too! I would have believed it if I wasn't aware of the topic and Grijalva's position on the matter.
Matthews of course did his level best to portray the progressive position as sound and reasonable and the conservative position as one that is unworkable, extreme, foolhardy, impossible, unwanted and unwise. After some chit chat back and forth on the matter good old Matthews summed up the hopeful progressive position with "let's compromise and grant amnesty to illegal's." That's some compromise!
How stupid do progressives think the rest of this nation is? Clearly they think we don't know enough to come in out of the rain. And didn't Matthews' get the memo that it's pejorative to call them "illegal's?" I thought they were to be called something like "undocumented" or some such crap. Isn't this yet another example of the left redefining what words and phrases mean so as to sound more attractive to their position?
As a blogger commented on this event, "why don't we just settle the issue and deport Matthews?" I'll bet his fellow critters on Mars miss his ass and would like him back. And as the commentator added, "The only reason the system is broke is we don't enforce our laws." Ya know, the ones that have been on the books for generations? Those laws? Progressives rarely cease to amaze me anymore, but just when I think I've heard it all I find out one of them "think[s] it's horribly dangerous to open up the Constitution to tamper with the Constitution." Yeah...since when exactly, might I ask?

Post a CommentThe Constitution is quite fine as it is. Read the book, "Ratification," where it tells of the Constitution up for sign-up by the states AS WRITTEN. The document is quite perfect on its own, with changes allowable only by amending. Those who would revise its essence have other objectives in mind.
The Left are so terrified right now; they miscalculated and didn't expect the 'sheeple' to figure out they are being had. Now they're going throw every dirty trick and deception they got at us. All I can say is get ready for a real fight!!
I read a blog post this morning that scared the dickens out of me. It was about a Mexican illegal who gave birth to a child and then used HER social security number (the babies) to get a driver's license and working papers. How will we ever be able to control this illegal immigration if these sort of things are transpiring!!! Isn't anyone checking on this stuff?!? cheers - more to chew on...
i'll say it from a Moron
Gotta agree with you again, here. I do believe it's really all only about agenda and not actual, objective facts, Olbermann's statements that is. How many times have I heard communist plants call the Constitution a "living, breathing document?" Somehow, the pendulum got switched out with a wrecking ball, and it's swinging back now.
Now there's an oxymoron...from a ....uh, nevermind.
