If you're not familiar with the area, Mt. Adams is a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. It sets high atop the highest hill in the city with great views, great food, and great drinks. It's an awesome place to live, work, and play. It's also the most dog-friendly area I've ever seen. Some of the local business even put out water dishes and treats for all the dogs out enjoying their daily walks.

Mt. Adams is mostly made up of young professionals, but on the weekends, it attracts a diverse group of people from college students to older adults.

While there are many things to do in the area, and everything is within walking distance, I'd like to point out an event that's happening this weekend, the Mt. Adams Music Festival.

The Mt. Adams Music Festival will take place on Saturday, August 9. The event opens at 4:30 pm and the music kicks in at 5:30 pm. The main stage will be on Pavilion Street, which is really cool for people attending the event, but since the road will be closed off, it's a bit frustrating to all of us who have off-street parking up there!

Event admission is $5, which gets you in to all the bars all night. Hell of a deal. The are many bars to choose from, including the Mt. Adams Pavilion, Alive One, Tavern on the Hill, Longworth's, Blind Lemon, Monk's Cove, Crowley's, Yesterday's, and more.

All of the parking garages and lots will be open. You can also park at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and take a shuttle over. It's really not that far to walk, but if you're lazy or it's hot, you may want to take the shuttle.

The featured act is Fiction Plane. I've never seen them, but after listening to their music on MySpace, I'm definitely looking forward to hearing them live. It looks like they're from London and they're on tour with 311 and Snoop this year.

Other acts are Austin Lee Spiegel, Rusty Bladen, and Lo-fi. The styles of music performed by these groups vary greatly, so there should be something for everyone. From the "homegrown rock & roll" of Rusty Bladen to the funk stylings of the local act Lo-fi, it sounds like good times will be had by all. I listened to each group's songs on MySpace, and I was impressed.

This is my first year attending, but since there's beer, wine, and food, and I don't have to drive anywhere, I'm definitely gonna rock out. Hope to see you there!
