Mt. Nebo State Park, Arkansas

Mt. Nebo State Park is located about seven miles west of Dardanelle, Arkansas on AR State Hwy 155. Rising some 1,350 feet above the lush river valley below, Mt. Nebo offers some spectacular views. The travel along AR State Hwy155 is steep and consists of several hair pin curves as you wind your way toward the top. There is a trailer length limit of 24 feet which you will need to keep in mind if you were thinking of taking a travel trailer or RV for this scenic trip. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1933, the Mt. Nebo State Park was constructed from native stone and logs. The rustic look blends well with the natural environment, giving the park an overall feeling of tranquility and beauty.

Mt. Nebo has over 14 miles of hiking trails that vary in skill level from mild to experienced. The famous bench Trail is a favorite of most visitors because it offers over 4 and a half miles of level trail through thick pine and hardwood forest. Along this beautiful trail you'll see rock work done by the 1933 Civilian Conservation Corp, Fern lake and many historic springs. Biking is encouraged on this trail, and you may bring your own or rent one from the Park Office.

If you plan to stay overnight, you can choose from several primitive outdoor campsites located at intervals along the trail, stay in one of the campsites located in the main campground, or stay in one of several fully equipped cabins. These cabins feature fireplaces and fully functional kitchens. During the summer and fall seasons it is best to call ahead and make sure there are available units if you desire a cabin, but the outside campsites almost always have vacancies.
