Location of Mt. San Antonio Community College
Mt. SAC is located on 420 acres in the foothills of the beautiful San Antonio Mountains about 25 miles from Los Angeles. The mountains, often snow-capped, provide a beautiful backdrop for the campus. I lived four miles from campus which made it extremely convenient for a working mother like me who could go home after work, fix dinner and still go to the community college campus for 6p or 8p classes. I took advantage of many of the online, hybrid and 6-week summer courses offered, and finished 58 units in seventeen months.
Diversity at Mt. San Antonio Community College
One of my absolute favorite things about Mt. San Antonio Community College was the diversity of the student body, faculty and staff . In addition to being in classes with people from diverse cultures and ethnicities, it wasn't unusual to be in classes with high school seniors , working adults, retirees, immigrants and non immigrants. Diversity at Mt. San Antonio Community College was not just about the people; so were the certificate and associate degree programs offered and course schedules designed to meet the needs of students needing flexibility and convenience.
Resources at Mt. San Antonio Community College
Whether students or prospective students were doing entrance testing, applying for financial aid and meeting with academic advisors, Mt. SAC made processes easy and convenient. Resources were conveniently available whether students were completing their education at community college or planning to transfer into any four-year college. Students could participate in Transfer Days, explore college literature in the advising center or meet academic advisors. I was able to manage my transfer by following an education plan and selecting classes in the course schedule which indicated directly transferable classes to the University of California (UC) or the California State University (CSU) colleges and universities.
Value at Mt. San Antonio Community College
At the time I attended Mt. San Antonio Community College the cost per unit to attend was $12.00 for California residents. The current rate per unit is still a relative bargain for California residents at $26.00 per unit. Out of state students have higher fees at $190.00 per unit. Mt. San Antonio Community College is an excellent value for students who want access to quality faculty, state of the art technology and great weather, most of the time.
