The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory will sell at least one less ice cream cone per day if the MTA yet again hikes subway fares. If every month the MTA takes a few more dollars from every person that buys unlimited ride metro cards, such as we do in our family, that will translate into one less stop into Pete's Downtown, one less coffee at the Starbucks on Front Street, a skipped hair appointment at Van Sickel's, one less delivery from Tutt Cafe, and one less drink at Jack the Horse Tavern, per person affected, and that's a lot of affected people, and a lot of affected Downtown Brooklyn businesses.

Think about it. Even if the proposed extra 17% fare hike doesn't exactly tunnel too much further into your budget, you still know you're paying MTA a few more dollars to ride the subway. You're still out another coffee, beer, ice cream cone or appetizer, each and everyone of us affected, both sides of the business transaction, patron and proprietor.
