MTV Creates Degenerative Shows

I'll tell you, MTV has really turned to crap over the last decade or so. It seems like one stupid reality show after another comes out every couple of months and they just get worse and worse. Granted, MTV has released a few shows that sparked my interest. A few of these shows are True Life, Teen Mom, Parental Control, and Real World. I also like the World's Strictest Parents. True Life, Teen Mom, and World's Strictest Parents have at least some depth to them and have a point to them. Parental Control and Real World are more entertainment based, but are not quite as dumb as a show like Jersey Shore.

The days of music videos on MTV are long gone. Reality shows have taken their place and some are a total waste of space. Yes Jersey Shore, I'm talking about you. It shows nothing more than a group of idiots that in no way characterizes the lives of Italian Americans. I am not Italian, but for those of you that are, I am sorry that MTV has released such a sorry excuse for a show. Hopefully anyone who watches this show knows that it is so far from real life and that it does not accurately describe the lives of Italian Americans. I have not actually sat down and watched a full episode of this show yet, and I do not intend to. However, from what I saw, it is pretty degrading. I will not judge people for watching this show and giving them high TV ratings. All I ask is that people remember that this is not how life really is for most people.

As I noted earlier, other shows like Teen Mom, True Life, and World's Strictest Parents have a point behind them. There is no doubt that teenage pregnancy, delinquency, drug use, drinking problems, relationship problems, and more exist in life. These are the things that these shows delve into. These things are real life issues. Stupid twenty something year old idiots going out and getting drunk and taking girls home to their house for a one night stand is not what life is all about.

As far as shows like Parental Control and Real World go, well, they are definitely more for entertainment purposes. Still, at least Parental Control is funny sometimes. Most of us have had to have our parents' meet our significant other and that can turn out very interesting at times. Many parents can not stand their children's boyfriend or girlfriend. At least it is something that people can relate to in some way.

As far as Real World goes, this show has had many of its stupid moments. However, there have been cases when the people on the show did something good. As a matter of fact, on the last season of Real World, the cast members paid a visit to a place that housed abused and disadvantaged children. At least they did some good for the world.

MTV, please create more shows that will actually do some good for the world. The last thing we need is another stupid show that degrades a certain nationality. What's next, a reality show for the Chinese, Germans, and Hawaiians?
