MTV with ServiceNation Will Host 'Be the Change Inaugural Ball'
Barak Obama Inauguration Events Will Include MTV Ball to Celebrate the New Presidency
This Inaugural ball is being put on to celebrate the youth vote of the 2008 Presidential election. Barack Obama was able to do what his predecessors had not been able to do, he reached out to the huge youth vote in America and Barack Obama was able to get them engaged in the political process and he got them to the polls in record numbers.
It has been a struggle in prior elections to get the vote from the youngest voters in America, specifically 18-29 year olds. Barack Obama candidacy got 24 million of those young people to the polls, that equates to 18% of the entire electorate. Further, this was also the first time in twenty years that the number of these young voters topped voters that were over the age of 65.
The attendees of the "Be The Change Inaugural Ball" will be all the young people selected based on their level of volunteerism within their organizations. There will also be featured at the Inaugural ball leading artists, popular celebrities and government officials that will do dedications to America's youth and the role they played in the election of Barack Obama.
The 'Be The Change Inaugural Ball' will be televised live on all the MTV channels and online at MTV.com. It will also include televised events from around the world where young people are volunteering in service projects and making a difference.
Stephen Friedman, General Manager of MTV said that "ServiceNation is the perfect partner for this inaugural ball given they encompass a broad coalition of youth service organizations. We want to celebrate young people across the nation who are answering the call and working to make changes in their communities and beyond."
ServiceNation is an umbrella organization of 120 individual organizations that reach out to over 100 million Americans. They strive to create and mobilize grassroots movements that will drive America's leaders to provide funding and support to the volunteer community. They encourage all Americans to want "to step forward and take the lead in bridging our divides, strengthening our communities, and building a more vibrant democracy."

Nicely Written :)
Good reporting.
Interesting. I don't care for MTV so It wouldn't be my choice. I'm glad that young people are voting. I pray that they will seek wisdom in their choices.
