MTV is a video music channel popular among teens and young adults. The channel has produced several popular shows including The Real World and Road Rules. In the afternoons, teens and young adults across America tune in to MTV for TRL (Total Request Live) to get the latest info on favorite artists and performers as well as to hear the top ten songs voted for the day. Many young Americans rely on MTV to get all of their entertainment news.

Now MTV has broadened their target audience with the addition of the newest MTV channel, MTV Tr3s. The new channel aims to "celebrate Latino culture, music and artists."

MTV Tr3s is targeted at Latino teens and young adults. MTV Tr3s is just like MTV. It airs music videos, in most cases by Latino artists. Like MTV, MTV Tr3s viewers can tune in for the latest music news and top songs with Mi TRL (TRL Latino style). It is also a way for Latinos across the country to hear songs and see videos that they otherwise may not be able to see here in the States. Latino artists also get their own niche in the MTV world with the new channel.

Also on MTV Tr3s, viewers can catch the latest episodes of Dance Life. The Reality show created by Jennifer Lopez gives the at home audience the opportunity to see aspiring dancers as they struggle to make it in Hollywood.

Another popular show on MTV Tr3s is indie.101. the show takes place in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles and focuses on the Latino alternative scene.

MTV Tr3s has also teamed up with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Youth Venture, The Sallie Mae Fund, and National Council of LaRaza to help the future of Latinos in this country excel and assist them with planning for their futures, including college. Together, they have aired community service announcements on the channel and provided voices for Latinos in America. The television channel and the MTV Tr3s website have given young Latinos the chance to hear form other Latinos facing the same cultural issues.

MTV Tr3s also provides a way for young people to learn about various issues facing Latinos in America and allows them to see how they can get involved and make a difference in their communities.
