MTV's 'The Hills': Is the Heidi and Spencer Split for Real?

Fans of MTV's The Hills - ands anyone who has ever read a tabloid- saw it coming. Ever since their fairtytale wedding last year, Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's relationship has become increasingly strained. Last fall Montag underwent 10 --count 'em, 10!- plastic surgeries (clearly someone wasn't happy with herself), while hubby Spencer did his best to drive her family and friends out of her life. Now it appears that Montag has had enough and has moved out of the couple's Hollywood home. But is it for real or is it for show?

According to TMZ, Montag moved out of the cool pad she shared with Pratt last week, on the heels of Pratt calling the police on her mom when she came to the couple's home. But just days earlier Pratt and Montag were seen out together getting ice cream, with Pratt donning camo fatigues and a very scruffy beard (also, his shirt was buttoned wrong- who dresses him in the morning?).

With the final season of The Hills now airing, Montag and Pratt likely need a new TV gig. While there's no word on what Pratt is planning, Montag reportedly has a new girly reality show in the works, with sometime Hills cast member, Jen Bunney. If you blinked during The Hills 6 season run, you may have missed Bunney, but she infamously "hooked up" with pal Lauren Conrad's fling, Brody Jenner, back in Season 2.

Many fans think the whole Heidi and Spencer spilt could be a publicity stunt, but Pratt has been mysteriously quiet on his Twitter lately. Meanwhile Montag and Bunney are tweeting their every move, with Montag even announcing she's ready for "the best summer of my life". Sure doesn't sound like a woman mourning the end of her marriage!

But don't expect the usually vocal Spencer Pratt to fade into the sunset. While this season of The Hills shows him behaving erratically and even cutting his sister out of his life (see, it's not just Heidi's family that he disses), he's still one shrewd character. Pratt may just be cooling off before promoting his next move.

Hey- we've seen plenty of celebrity "Newlyweds" -type reality shows (Nick and Jessica, Carmen and Dave) so how about a Spencer and Heidi reconciliation show? Stranger things have happened.
