What you will need:
-Chocolate Pudding Mix
-Oreo Cookies (or generic of that variety)
-Gummy Worms
-Individual Desert bowls*
*Optional. You could also just use a large bowl, and serve this family style.
1.) Start by making your pudding. Just follow the directions on the box, adding water, or milk. Then place the pudding mix into a large bowl in the refrigerator. You'll want to keep this nice and cold before serving.
2.) Empty the Oreo cookies into a large plastic bag, and start beating them up. Slam them on the counter, roll over them with a rolling pin, or just start smashing with a spoon. You will want them to be in small chunks when you're done with them. These are going to act as clumps of dirt in your final product.
3.) Take a few spoonfuls of the cookie bits, and a spoonful of the chocolate pudding, and add it to the bottom of each of your desert bowls. You just want your cookies to have a bit of moisture in them so you can smash them to the bottom of the bowl to form your "crust". If you're running short on time, or patience, you can skip this step all together. This step will just give more of a cookie crunch to your creepy desert.
4.) Take about ΒΌ of the cookie bits, and stir them into the pudding. These will be little dirt surprises hiding deep in your mud-buckets. Again, if you are just trying to whip something together in a hurry, you can skip this step also.
5.) Fill each of your desert cups with the pudding mixture. Leave a good about of room at the top to finish them off.
6.) Sprinkle the remaining cookie bits in each of the bowls. No need to be pretty, this is a bucket of mud after all.
7.) Here is the fun part! Take your gummy worms, and place them in the bowls. Be creative, have some laying on top, some just peaking out of the mud, and maybe you will even want to hide some totally inside the mud.
Be sure to keep the mud-buckets in the refrigerator until serving.
This is a great project you can do with your kids! They will love smashing the cookies, and have even more fun making sure their mud-bucket is the grossest of them all! Add more fun by adding gummy bugs, or sweet-tart slugs! There are endless creepy crawly candies around during Halloween, and you can choose your own. Have fun with your mud!
